As some of you may know, my Airbox snappped & the glue started to melt on the airbox. Fiat are saying that they can't fix this under warrenty as it looks like someone has lent on it and broke it. (BullSh*t) I have had the car from brand new since 22nd of May and i have done 4000 miles (bad i know lol) they said my two front tyres are below legal limit & one has a nail in it causing a slow puncher ( i didnt notice lol ). The MAIN problem is my gearbox!. when ever i would go into 3rd gear it would crunch & coming out of 3rd it would crunch, sometimes it would even pop out of gear :| but today they said there is a problem with my gearbox & are waiting for FIAT HQ's to give authority to go ahead and change gearbox's ( now i have no car :(.

Just thought id share this info with you because FIAT Service department are a bunch of W A N K E R S :D

Thanks :)

i hope ur prepard to fight.....they'll find every posible excuse not to replace your gearbox:bang:...lol

Lol my dad just had a argument on the phone with them because they are refusing to replace the airbox & want to charge me lol. i have a GSR induction kit anyways i just wanted to get the airbox sorted for just incase i need it one day lol

Did you not know your front tires were Illegal  if they are you must have been caning the living daylights out of it to shred them in 4K miles if you have shredded them in that time due to abuse bet they will deny a gear box change ....

I had the dealer try it on with me over front tires really peed them off when i stormed into the workshop pulled out my depth gauge and checked them there and then 4+ mm left on them.... (knowing already that there was plenty of meat on them)

:ROFLMAO: I had the same thing at a local KwikFit centre recently. I normally wouldn't trust them from as far as I can throw them, but went there for an aircon service as it was more convenient than leaving the car with the dealer for a day.

The bloke came out and said "mate your two front tyres are illegal and need to be changed" while quoting law at me. Little did the guy know I had just come from ATS and had a report on the tyre conditions, plus the front two he was saying were worn were changed at the last service 3 months ago! It was very satisfying just popping into my glovebox and showing him to be a **** with a tyre condition report!

Moral of the story - do not use KwikFit in Hounslow!

Moral of the story - always check and double check what they tell you. Never just take their word for it that something needs doing and if really in doubt get a second opinion.

To OP:

As Andy M has said if youve managed to wear the tyres down to past the legal limit within the first 4000k then you must be going some or wheel spinning at every junction. If they see that youve got no tread left then its obvious youve been 'racing' and so will have been pushing the gearbox too much, afterall it isnt a racing gearbox and isnt designed to be used as one.

LOL well i must say i have done a few wheel spins & burn outs :) but hay dont we all lol & good that you proved them wrong, there just money grabbers lol

Im having the same argement with my dearler at the moment about gearbox issues, ive already had it rebuilt once due to your 3rd gear problem which was done under warrenty and then 3 months down the line it goes completly.

They have given 3 excuses so far one too much wheel spinning (which they can supposidly tell from tread wear) then over-revving in a standing position (which means the gearbox shouldnt even come into it, if im not moving where is the gearbox coming into it) and then 3rdly wear and tear (wtf!!) going through fiat head office at the moment, so far been a week without my car looking at another 2 weeks till i get it back atleast.

Also they have been very quick to get quotes written up for me, £1600 for a reconditioned gearbox, £3000 for a new one both fitted. What a joke.

Hope you have some luck mate. which garage do you use btw cause i just noticed your in milton keynes?

well matey boy it looks like me and you are going through the same shizz lol FIAT are a joke

True i have done the odd wheel spin / burn out but not every day lol i do give it a little beating but i can't help it i think the term for it is "heavy footed" lol

Heay footed??? means when fiat plug into your cars engine ecu and sees that the car has had a hard 4,000 miles and its been over revved to f**K then they will defo not replace/repair the gearbox.....
how has the airbox broken... ive had 3 grandes and never has a airbox broken on them ? and i do serious miles..

3 tyres in 4k is shocking...... the local scooby driver round my end dont go through that !!!

but hey ho your car your choices... make em wisely...
but all i can say is if you want you car to be reliable... look after it and dont screw the arse of it

tyres at 4k, jeez what the hell were you doing? Not suprised they are questioning the gearbox fault!

By the way its 'the dealer is a W A N KE R' not Fiat, dealerships are a franchise of Fiat thus I changed the thread title.

T14086 - Hes probs talking crap.. not saying he is but there is a doubt... how the hell is a air box going to snap while its sat doing nothing... seems as tho hes got his GSR and tried fitting it and snapped it and now trying to claim off fiat... his gear box is probs goosed because he shows off ' or trying to show off' doing burn outs in his brand new car ... (n)

sounds like he has more money than sense (n)

Blatamc - ive just looked at your much recent posts and in this particular one

https://www.fiatforum.com/grande-punto/203083-i-need-help-please.html

it says you have already fitted your GSR kit and you had it in for repair on wednesday.... ??? so how has the airbox broken??? to me i think you have broken it and know that you have and tried to pull a fast one on fiat :( not nice....

Moral of the story take an interest in your cars, give consumable items a quick look every couple of weeks or weekly if you put in the miles and you should spot trouble before it catches you out.

3 penalty points per tire should be enough encouragement to check them regularly check for tread, Checking for foreign objects in the tread and a quick look at the tire walls inside and out for bulges or tears can be the difference between a replacement tire or a Pine box

Andy Monty I do check my vehicle regularly, which is why it was at ATS in the first place ;) And if I didn't care for it, why would I take it for an aircon service and have some ATS bloke check something for me?

I check my oil regularly, replace the windscreen wipers like they're going out of fashion and I even check all my lights occasionally (the back ones are fun as some cars don't give quite the necessary reflection :p).

The car even gets premium fuel more often than not... And I also have all my cars serviced regularly.

It's what any car lover should do for their baby!

thats what i was getting at ;)

I wouldn't have entertained him by showing him the ATS sheet Just tell them to Foxtrot Oscar

There was a chap on Detailing World who had a lovely form from KF and the chap was really worried about him driving it with a "broken spring" he had a custom air bag set up on it so there was no spring he let the chap hang himself

Oh and my car should be ideal for checking your rear lights ;)
