i like the punto shape very very much from interior and exterior and i like the car generally very much BUT am very very scared from (fiat reliability) specially i am living in egypt and here fiat brand prestige is rubbish (sry:)) becasue the old fiat cars' reliability but i thought that in only egypt but i was really surprised when i found thats in all over the world and its not only the old fiat cars have bad reliability but alos the new (n) i have read many many owners review for the punto but all of it were disappointed :(
on the other side skoda (fabia) hasent anyyyyyyyyyyyyy reliability problems and its bulit very good (VW) the handling is much better than punto, the options are more than the punto (in egypt) and of course better in reliability actually much better the ONLY bad thing in the fabia its shapeeeeee extrior is very very bad interior is very very classic.
so noooooow plz help me to choose between
my heaaaaaaaaaaaart >> punto Or
my braaaaaaaaain >> fabia

VW Reliability is not what it is made out to be. Every car has its fair share of problems. Remember that Skoda Fabia's tend to be owned by 'older' people hence why their may be less reported problems as they are perhaps not driven much, or driven as hard as say a grande punto owned by a younger person. The grande punto would be just as reliable as a Fabia, though it can have a few niggles. The newer ones should be better than the earlier ones. As for handling wise, I dont think the Fabia handles better than the Grande Punto

Hello,

Firstly, dont expect people to suggest the fabia over the GP on a FIAT forum ..
Secondly, german reliability is not as advertised..and be sure that italian industry has made huge success in the reliability sector.
Fabia is an interesting model but as far as that..
Why dont you go for the GP 1.4 95 16v instead ?

So follow your heart..

 Buy a Fabia then come back here in 3 years time and tell us how good they are... 3 years & 52,000 miles into my GPS 1.9 MJet ownership and I would DEFINITELY buy another!

hello dear abdo :D actually um an egyptian owner of the GP & i've bought the first GP to enter egypt with Blue & me included & with easy tronic & truley i was taking the risk of buying it specially as u said some of the egyptian thoughts about fiat that it's not reliable :D but lets take a look they're speaking about 30 years old Nasr :D that's it bro actually my car is only 3000 KM on dash but thanks god until nw um having a gr8 experience unfortunatlly um abroad egypt now but um so eager to go back :D hwvr truly i bought this car after a gr8 comparison with others :D i'll try to make it up to you :D as follows:
1- Hyundai Elantra = rubish quality beside being the all egyptian car which is not unique @ all :D
2- Proton Gen2 = Malaysian i tried it actually great lotus engineering but horbile mal. quality truly horrible :D
3- Skoda fabia = a well known car beside having gr8 option but still not up to the full option grande :D belive me :D
u wont belive me as i used to have a VW jetta actually after buying the GP i belived that a 1.6L vw engine with 6 speed autogear is just " kanaba " :D w b3deen just ride the GP & check it's options over all it's a very reliable car specially you are going to buy the latest updated GP which means that it's updated than the earlier ones w truly i wish u a good luck my frnd w please dnt hesitate to ask any thing :D w 3la fkra the agency is truly changed i went once because i had a problem they were free w truly helpfull :D i ddnt belive tht i was in egypt :D u knw other agencies :D w specially it's close it's in gesr 2l sues not in abo rawash as all others :D hwvr sry i've spoke alot & here u'll find a gr8 friendly ppl :D ur future GP frnds isa :D specially Mr. Tris Harris & Mr. T they're so helpful as well as our fellow frnds here in which i'm honored to be with them here :D m3lsh ya man 6awelt 3leek w ay 7aga t7t amrak w 2st5eer dnt forget :D

OK here's my answer (based on the fact that we have a 1.4 16v Fabia and 1.4 8v Grande Punto):
The Fabia is a little nippier, mostly due to the more powerful engine. It feels better put together. On the negative side the shape means the windscreen seems quite small (height wise) and the cabin doesn't feel as spacious. There is also more road noise.

The Grande Punto feels slightly less well built (but I haven't had any trim break with the exception of the parcel shelf clip). It is more roomy and the dash feels better laid out and more space again. The ride is good and the seats are supportive. Less road noise than the Fabia.

Overall I prefer the Fiat (it's the one I own) for the reasons above and that it seems better value for money. Skodas aren't as cheap as they used to be, neither is German quality.

personaly i think you should go with what your heart sets out to be lol i am a 1.4 8v owner & i am proud to say that i love my car & its performance. aslong as you treat the car right, the car will treat you right. just stop being a P u s s y & get a punto :) trust me you wont regret it after :)

1st i rly wanna thx u all guys 4 helpying meee :)))

Of course its going to be nippier, its an unfair comparision! its like comparing road runner to a snail!:p

the 1.4 16v GP and the 1.4 16v fabia is the comparison that you should be looking for, in terms of power output! I would have another GP 1.4 16v if the T-jet/abarth didn't exist! ;)

Hello,

This is an impossible question to answer. Lots of Fiats are in fact very reliable, and the faults tend to be relatively minor. But of course Skodas are very good cars, if a little dull, as you know ;) They can still go wrong though.

I'm not sure the handling of the Skoda is better than the GP by the way.

If I were you I'd take a drive in both, look around and speak to some owners of Fiats, if you can, and look at practical things like how far the dealer is away from your home.

I never give advice about buying cars as it is such a personal matter, but good luck with your final choice, whatever it is.
