This is one of the brakes i took off my 56 plate grande punto and the one i replaced it with, ive had the car for about 8-9 month. it started making a noise under braking but the brake warning cable still hadnt snapped, the brake was pretty much non existant, im thinking of contacting fiat about the fact that the cable didnt snap or wasnt about to when the brake had worn a dangerous amount. I dont brake particularly hard either. Anyone else had similar problems?
any coments welcome thanks

Ive never worn mine that low, but i would say that the standard pads are pritty much w*nk to be honest. I run EBC greenstuff pads. The bite is tons better and even though there supposed to wear quicker than most, these have lasted me a good year upto now. And they are probably cheaper then getting some sh*te ones from fiat. I wouldnt bother moaning to fiat because they wont want to know. But if you do fancy it, good luck (y)

the ones i replaced them with are alot better quality hopefully get a bit more out of them, took a day or two to wear them in a little. seems to be back at the original if not better bite

The pad warning isnt meant to be used as a replacement for checking them yourself so how can you blame Fiat? Guessing you are not the first owner so how do you know that the previous owner didnt break them when putting new pads on?

Exactly, do you only check your oil when the low oil light comes on? Possible the brake pad warning wire has broken so you wouldn't of recieved a low pad warning anyway.

No subsitute for a one minute check every month.

What i mean tho is that the wire is right on the back edge of the brake so if it got to the point where the wire was to break there would be no point in having it because your brakes could fail at any minute. with any warning there shold be atleast a bit of prior notice. i dont know you may think differently

? the wire goes onto a pin part through the pad to a pre-determined depth, when the pad reaches that point the pin earths out on the disc thus bringing on the warning light. The earth signal actually goes through body computer so you might even have a connection problem.

As with DOM130 I run greenstuff pads in my other car.
I'll be putting them in the GP ready for it's MOT in Dec.
