Hi All

Odd query from a GPS owner I think.

I have a 1.9mjet sporting and have been offered a caravan to take down to the south of france next month rather than a paying for a hotel.

Where will i find out the weight the car can pull safely and do any of you have experience pulling a caravan on a GP?

Thanks

Wow so funny sledge. I wander what the point of this forum is with clever ones like you???

I assume you have a towbar (with Dual electrics) The main reason is one of legality if the caravan is fitted with a reversing light its better to have it working than have the French Gandarmes' sucking their gums....

iirc nose weight is 75KG (less if you fill the boot)

the GP should be a good towcar (for a SMALL caravan) you might have trouble getting towing mirrors to fit.....

whilst you have change take it for a test drive and see how it copes would be the best bet..

dont forget travel breakdown cover (THAT COVERS THE CARAVAN MECHANICALLY) many will recover a caravan/trailer if teh car dies but not if the caravan sheds a wheel bearing....

my 1.2 pulls a 650 KG conway trailer tent happy enough but that is light and low same when i shifted 400kg of topsoil not a problem

not to forget im sure you need 2x warning triangles now in france if you tow (lidl this week £2.99 ;) and a high viz vest in reach of the drivers seat (lidl £1.99) :)

I do Steve, but I cant see why because there was never any intent there. Maybe he should just get off his high-horse and learn to take a light hearted joke eh??
