I have 2 problems
1) My MP3 player was not being recognised by Blue and me system ( although it did previously,) while trying to fix this problem i think i may have pressed the wrong button or did something i shouldnt have!!!. Which leads to problem 2
2) now the steering wheel channel changing buttons and the volume buttons have stopped working on my steering wheel controls.

What have i done and how do i fix it??

I doubt you broke the steering wheel, chances are its all down to the same fault that caused the mp3 player to stop working.

Try disconnecting the battery from the negative terminal for 20 mins. This should make the blue and me system start afresh (which fixes a lot of problems). Note that you will lose any trip data and have to reset the clock when you do this.

failing the above suggestion, take all of the stuff off of your memory stick, and format the memory stick, then put your stuff back on!

if that does not work, then take it back to the dealer along with a large stick!
