Hi all,
is there a way to remove the rear wiper including motor and stuff without drilling out the three rivets holding it in place. it looks like the mounting is riveted on and the moter is fitted to the mounting with allen screws, which are awkwardly placed for convienience :bang:

Drill the tophats off the rivets and the wiper motor will basically fall out lol , have you taken the actual wiper arm off? mine was stuck on fast. Looks so much better without it though

I use my rear wiper all the time... does it not bother anyone not having it?

I'd leave the motor in aswell- when you come to sell it, you'll need it back in and riveting it back in would be a ballache

unless you think the weight of the motor is slowing your car down

Nah never bothers me , rain-x is my friend lol if you leave the motor in , the spline sticks out of the glass at the back , so it looks like someone has just nicked your wiper lol , its only three rivets so should be easy to refit lol

Drill em off


can get a cheap pop riveter from most hardware stores should you want to refit it (or just use some small machine screws)

oky. i'll drill em tomorrow and get a gromit from maplin

i've done mine as well...gromit cost me £1.50 from halfords

personal taste I guess, I think it makes the rear more simetrical and beautiful without.

Yeah it's one of those funny things...i'm not actually sure if I prefer it with or without but I can't be arsed to go rivet it back on now so i'm happy with it off for the time being! haha

the only thing i would fancy doing to my wipers is to turn the big un into a single wiper unit on the front(obviously!). that would look cool, but too chicken to attempt it!

1. Remove the bolt under the cover of the wiper and wiggle the wiper untill it comes off, If its stuck WD40 should help.

2. Open boot and remove the screw that hold the boot lid inner cover on and pop off all the way round, remove cover.

3. Unclip the electrical connector and secure away tighty to avoid rattles

4. Drill out the 3 rivets that hold the motor in place and remove motor.
For safe keeping remove the gromet from the window and put back on the motor spindle and put bolt back on.

5. Clean the window area and fit the gromet, 23mm is best fit but 24mm are more readly available and you can just modify these a fraction if you wish. Halfords sell gromets 19mm, 22mm, 24mm, & 25mm for £1.59.

6. Clip the inner boot cover in and screw on. Clean window and boot area and away you go....

Hope this helps any one wanting to do this mod, Very easy.
