Tuning Grande T-Jet fitted with abarth turbo

It got a BMC airfilter from the SS,a Ragazonne midpipe en Ragazonne rear demper,Abarth turbo and it got a remap.
At this point we can't get any more BHP because the camshafts don't allow us to get more air into the engine.Next step will be Colombo Bariani camshafts.

Better look for an other ecu tuner...;)

You should have at least 170hp with the remap.

I had it remapped by a guy that does alot of remaps for lancia, fiat and Alfa.My car now runs 1.2 bar and in overboost 1.4 bar.We kept the torque at 270 Nm because the gearbox keeps working without problems. On the dyno you can see that the hp keeps coming till 4500rpm and then it gets a little drop.We hope when we fit the cams that we get more horsepower at higher revs.
After the remap the car runs a lot better,i got a nicer torque and it last longer. The car drives totally different.

If you buy manifold and new injectors yes.
these my friend are included in the esseesse kit! so it can be done! engine and electrics are the same. its expensive ofcourse, and i think that they sell the kit only to abarth owners! thats a problem

orite guys,

new on here, but had my t-jet for over a year now. stupid question :bang:...... where are you all getting ur abarth turbos from?? i know all about them but cant find any for sale.

i have got the money but just cant find any, any help would be appreciated.

thanks

Has anyone tried fitting a bigger IHI turbo and keeping the original manifold instead of going the SS Garrett route :)

If you're talking about the VL36 turbo from the regular abarth and standard manifold (Which is the same for the abarth and T-jet I believe), then yes, that is the route most people take when changing the turbo. The only person on the forum who did go down the SS Garrett route was Col, and he had to change a few other bits like injectors and whatnot, I don't fully remember, just search for his thread, it's a good read (y)

No I meant a bigger IHI turbo like the RFH 4 or RFH 5 ! The VL36 , VL37 and VL 38 are all RFH 3's so should be basically the same turbo unit ! No one seems to know what the precise difference is between the three but I'm guessing it isn't much and I doubt very much a big manufacturer like IHI would make some 3's bigger than others so the only thing it could be in my opinion is a different actuator ! Thats why the peek power of the Abarth happens 500rpm higher than the t-jet 120 ! Has anyone tried to swap the actuator only from one of the higher boost RFH 3's to a standard t-jet 120 RFH 3 ? Is it possable to do ?

They sell alot more than three versions of the RFH 3 for allsorts of different engines ! They bother to sell all types because they come as a direct replacement to what's fitted to your original car !

as my t-jet is boost cutting with the abarth turbo on it, i decided today at work, jsut as an idea that i would dissconnect the battery for an hour to reset the ecu, then after re-adjusting all clock and radio i ran it on the rollers, and it did not boost cut :):) and was boosting just over 10psi which is standard boost for the t-jets and also i would like to say that my figers on the rolling road with the abarth turbo and it produced
ALL STOCK APART FROM ABARTH CENTER AND BACKBOX IT PRODUCED:
143 BHP
154 FT TORQUES
ALL STOCK APART FROM ABARTH TURBO AND ABARTH EXHAUST IT PRODUCED:
149.9 BHP
160.4 FT TORQUES

so im not sure how much a remap would bump up the power by?
would a g-tech tuning box for an abarth work on a t-jet as they are the same ecu's?
Also i get pictures of graphs tomorow as i left them at work because it seems to have more low down grunt.
The standard Bravo 150 has 150ps which is 148BHP so your figures for your turbo change are spot on ! If you want more power without a remap you should try using 99ron v power or tesco fuel ! The 155 quoted for the Mito was based on the power output using superunleaded not any other mods as some people seem to think !
