Just went to sainsburys to do some shopping, turned key to turn off engine... still running, pinched myself to see if i was awake still... yes i was...

Took it to the garage and they said it may not be under warranty as it's my 3rd year... how is that possible? Surely it's not normal for a car to be running after ignition is switched off??!?!?

Check engine light came on! Crap!

Think i may need to get a new car?

i'd say a new car is a bit extreme, i could just be a broken ignition switch!

let the tech's look at it before you scare yourself with scenarios like that

Does it keep doing it? I take it you stalled it to turn the engine off?

Really depends on the cause of the problem as to whether it is covered in the 3rd year warranty or not.

Right well i got it back this afternoon and it's fixed... although my seat position has been changed!!!!! grrrr.

Funny mine did exactly the same this weekend!

I was driving down a country lane, in the rain and late at night and hit a bl**dy huge puddle.

When I tried turning the engine off stayed running with the key out. I managed to turn it off with the key. Did it a few times.

Engine warining light came on in the morning, but I left it running for 5 mins turned it off and on starting it dissapperared.

Been running fine since and I have done over 200 miles in it.

Strange but true!!
