Like me when I bought it. Even before my neglect the car was terrible. one of the dealership salesman said 'you've got a white elephant'. as he started chuckling.

Very helpful that.....

I know, there's no excuse, i'll start checking the fluids as soon as i can find the bonnet catch.

Plastic cover comes off with 2 bolts, but you dont need to take it off.

Your old car WILL have used oil... fact. You just been lucky!

Make a date with your Punto every Saturday or Sunday morning, check the fluids.... oh and wash it weekly too with a wax every 3 months or so at least!
I've been converted so i'll be checking it.

I don't want to be stuck with large repair bills so it's a "no brainer" really.

Good decision, make sure you do... The Gremlins are watching and waiting to leap into your un-loved car... it will abandon you as it too was abandoned...

Reality now... You know it makes sense!

Try just pulling out the dipstick after the car has been stood on a flat surface for a few hours.... see what the dipstick says, mine varies between half and three quarters.

Heres the bad news.... if I dip it twice it ALWAYS looks full... try it and see.

If you want to, IMO the first removal of the dipstick tells you the oil level in the sump, second dip picks up oil off the bottom of the dipstick tube from when you first pulled it out and gives a false reading.

Thats so the oil drains down and you can check it after a run, its fine to check it cold after its been stood all night too.

Re: Service and Warranty

I think I'm gonna have to keep it and take my chances. I'll just keep my fingers crossed and treat it nicely from now on.

I personally don't think i've caused any lasting damage from what the mechanics have said and obviously the warnigs/driving condition of the car.

But i know nothing so maybe is just optimism.

Dude, in all seriousness, you cant sell it cause that is not fair, and you cant live with it because i think it might die.

Write it off.

In what way write it off? I wouldn't sell it because i dont own it. If you read my earlier post. Its on HP and I can give it back with an 80 cancellation cost.

Do you honestlt think it is THAT bad that it will die??
