Re-Map Has Blown 3 Injectors

Well here is the story, had my 1.9GP remaped last october by Derv Doctor in derby, the car was great after, i was well pleased with it. i have had no real major problems with it. Until yesteday when i was driving along in a 40 and my car completly cut out. so i took it down to the local garage by my work, ran a diognostic and its brought up 3 codes all for injectors. the codes got deleated and the car was running fine, until this morning. it cut off on the way to work 5 times. ( i work 1 mile from my house and it took 25 minutes to get there). we got a bloke to come down and put my stadard map back on it, while he did that it came up with 3 injecor electrical errors. my car is still under 3rd year warrenty, do you think fiat will detect the map o be suspicious and refuse to replace them? i hope they dont because each injector is 250

well herein lays the issue with remaps pushing components past their designed performance
how large an increase in power did the remap supposedly give?
have you checked injectors are even covered in 3rd year?

Re: Re-Map Has Blown 3 Injectors

i dont see why FIAT should pay for them, an injector is meant to run around 80% duty cycle, if the map has pushed it beyond that.. then how is that fiats fault, why should they pay?

Unfair to expect Fiat to pay for something you have caused. Sometimes its hard enough getting a genuine claim passed let alone self inflicted damage, IMO

no real figure was proven, bout the guy who maped it said about 45 hp increase. the other bloke who put it back to standard said that the fuel pressure was to high

Absolutely... If you want more power from you engine you should upgrade parts. It is expensive but you could have the engine blow up in your face... Like Arc and Marty said, Fiat shouldnt being paying its either you or that company... but they wont! bad times

Re: Re-Map Has Blown 3 Injectors

Don't fall into the trap of replacing parts because "that's what the diagnostic machine said". Just because you have injector fault codes stored doesn't mean the fault could lie in wiring issues or even the ECU. Bear in mind also that if injectors are replaced the ECU will need their individual codes written to memory to ensure the correct fuel delivery.

And the chances of 3 injectors failing together on two separate occasions is somewhat unlikely.

This is why it is so important to go to a place with a RR etc so they can see how the car is running with the map on.

Re: Re-Map Has Blown 3 Injectors

I agree with the above, the injectors are a mechanical part, and to have 2 go on neumerous seperate occasions is a bit weird, Id be checking the electrics before paying 250 a throw for injectors,

If the map was put on the ECU correctly I think im right in saying most tuners make it "invisible" If you have the standard map back on now Id take it back to Fiat and be cheeky and ask, I would think as it is a major component of the engine it should be covered.

Re: Re-Map Has Blown 3 Injectors

the standard map is on, and the codes have been deleated but the car still misfires. i noticed a rapid drop in fuel consuption over the last month, it was averaging about 30 and that was driving normal. also sumtimes it struggled to start in the morning, giving off alot of white smoke when it did (unburnt fuel). it was like the injectors were leaking fuel.
