So a rolling road will tell you your fuel rail pressure, boost pressure, injection sequence etc?

Anyone care to offer a decent explanation of exactly what paremters a rolling road can analyse?

the standard map is on, and the codes have been deleated but the car still misfires. i noticed a rapid drop in fuel consuption over the last month, it was averaging about 30 and that was driving normal. also sumtimes it struggled to start in the morning, giving off alot of white smoke when it did (unburnt fuel). it was like the injectors were leaking fuel.

Odd this... all said before but TBH I have had no such issues in 15,000 miles since my Red Dot re-map. I'd be looking at what the re-mappers did, sounds like a generic map that isnt specifically bespoke for you particular car. Some of those symptoms sound like the EGR to me but thats a guess, were the injector fault codes read by Examiner at a Fiat dealer?

A RR run shows if the map has made the car into a derv smoker Stroppy Lad
Mine was a bit smokey initially but a tweek on the day cured it, Mehsteg took his back after a few weeks I think and they fixed his too.

The OP may as well have used a tuning box if no RR facility was available IMO the result would have been the same

it shows a fuel line, if it don't look right then you investigate why, experienced proper mappers will know what is wrong though and sort it out. come to next rr day an i will show you:)

Thanks Dave...

If you promise to check my EGR valve too you got a deal...

I'll even pay for a power run to check how my remap is running, as long as you don't take the **** if it doesn't match the figures from my first one! :)

Had my GPS rolling roaded up Shrewsbury, there really is very little smoke, contrary to what many folk have said about ANGEL remaps. Even when the geezer floored it on a power run the garage was pretty smoke free. :)

I thought tuning boxes only alter fuel rail pressure?

;) heheh I'm cool with the Angel/ Red Dot thing geez... tuning boxes are an ECU con trick whatever they do, my point was following the OP's results he may as well have bought a tuning box off flea-bay, I'd be straight back to the mappers personally and not with my usual :D face either!

to have 2 go on neumerous seperate occasions is a bit weird, Id be checking the electrics before paying £250 a throw for injectors,

Some good points, GP injectors appear to be very reliable (never know one to fail) and strange 3 have gone. Worth spending the money getting a good diag done at good dealership. Has anyone measured the injector resistance/spill off yet...first place I would go.

2 injectors popped on my 12 month old C2 VTS, along with the ignition coil breaking down, inlet manifold falling off and various other sensors failing...lol... As unreliable as British weather...

Much happier with the squeeks and rattles, rusty bolts and corroding alloys on my Fiat! :)

Sorry to hear about your problems. There's always a risk with remapping - whatever they tell you.

The other risk if you do go down the cover it up and hope the dealer doesnt notice is that your dealer has already read your post :) and may not take too kindly to you trying it on.

I'm not saying they are here for sure, but there are a fair few dealer techs & service desk staff on here, even sales staff too.

Had a test drive last evening in my MJET for a steering problem, and the tech (i think hes the DET) knew me from here, though im not sure if hes an active member/poster.

when the car is on a rolling road, it can be held at load sites and then the ECU can be quized as to what is going on. you cannot do this on the road. its the whole point of tuning a car on a rolling road, they're not just for power runs.

So Red Dot "quiz" the ECU when tweaking there maps?

hmm derv doctor, they were the ones who said they could fit a dump valve for my diesel and gain better performance from it, and i laughed and drove to red dot.
