Was looking around the Internet and Ebay last night and found these two items.

Now one is a K&N induction kit for a 1.4 GP but I realised there is a longer intake hose would this eliminate the stigma of those who dont like K&N because of the fact it does not have a long intake like a GSR, but on the other hand is this even included in the kit?

This is the second item, well 4, they are a set of 17'' sporting alloys for a low price, would you reccomend these to me? Whats your opinions?

re: K & N or GSR ?

Ok I think its clear that whatever K&N bring out it will never be good enough. I think K&N are ok as there quality is reflected in the price from a GSR.

GSR will be alot better but they are 3 times the price of a K&N 57i induction kit. For someone like myself its seen as an alternative than being rubbish.

I know that the standard intake is considered better as apparently the K&N looses you power? So this brings me on to my next question...

Is there anything else than GSR or K&N?

And hears the link again see if it works

re: K & N or GSR ?

Still takes me to ebay home page. No there is nothing else as all "induction" kits are just air filters bolted to the throttlebody where as the GSR is a silicone tube that has actually had development hours put into it to see where it gains the most cold air.

re: K & N or GSR ?

no one is sayin the K&N filter is crap- its actually a very good filter medium, it's where they decide to place it that is the problem- the GSR kit has been designed to be placed in the correct place in the engine bay for the coldest air, and the silicone tubing is at the optimum diameter for the passage of air into the throttle body.

This why the GSR is more expensive- they've actually thought about what they were doing with it rather than just sticking a tube with a filter on the end and ensuring it fits under the bonnet.

EDIT: matt beat me to it

Ok fair comments I must say, thanks for the help (y)

Dont GSR retail at like £170 though? Could you get a K&N with a custom silicone pipe or would that be more than the GSR?

Ok, from the ebay homepage put in .... Grande punto alloys

That exactly

re: K & N or GSR ?

It woud cost you alot more than £170 to get a custom silicone pipe made up. Sure you can buy your own silicone pipe and do it but you will be pretty close to GSR price by then so you might aswell buy one off peter.

re: K & N or GSR ?

Yeah? How much does his retail at? And I know I think ill forget that idea now.

Have you seen the alloys yet?

re: K & N or GSR ?

Oh right but still abit expensive for me. Probably a good price for the product though. Am i right?

Would be nice to own 1

re: K & N or GSR ?

yeah its not a bad price in fairness, but i do know what you mean. It's more expensive, but better value for money seen as you will be gaining bhp not losing it.

Tuning an engine costs a shed load of money to do right/

re: K & N or GSR ?

Ok thanks for the replies lads, maybe a GSR is the way to go.

I have heard you can buy a Filter and Exhaust package together so they can set it up to get a maximum flow. Any ideas on this?

Matt I know your like a knowledgable person and I have thanked that in the past but I have read endless threads and I see that you get anoyed at that fact its been repeated again and again. The point of this forum is so people can post threads for their own benifit. All threads here are displayed in the Grande Punto section, so if you see something that you have seen before, why do you bother opening the thread? to read something you have seen before and then reply to it to just get a kick out of seeing 1 more post on your post count, just dont get it.

Thanks

Matt tries to be helpful, maybe has a short fuse... its the car he owns lol! ;)

No seriously, the Search function is your friend and thats what Matt tries to get people to do to help themselves.

Its a bit like :-
"give a man a fish and he has a meal for a day, give him a fishing rod and he can feed hiself for ever"

HTH.. (y)

i don't remember a time when Matt has jumped on someone without them asking a stupid question first, and normally its when a question has been asked within the last two weeks, and this happens ALL THE TIME yes the point in the forum is for everyone to gain a benefit, BUT and its the most important, people starting a new thread all the time just clogs it up and then makes it harder for EVERYONE to then search for the info they want, say you came on here and wanted to know about putting some lowering springs on and wanted some specific information, now if you did a search there would be hundreds of threads about springs and the same information in everyone with only a few different, it'd take days to search through, rather than one person asking, and keeping it to one thread, then you end up with one thread with EVERYTHING there is to know about lowering springs for the GP rather than 100 threads with 99 of them all exactly the same, then if there was something that hadn't been answered, it should be stuck on the end of the existing thread, not on a new one

the whole point in a forum is to create a databank of knowledge rather than a server full a tosh

however in your case it was just a stupid question

rant over
