Tuning K & N or GSR ?

re: K & N or GSR ?

Yh I have great respect for Matt but c'mon seriously we wanna talk dont we. About our cars individual problems, mods etc and so we do not turn it into some search engine.

And Punto Matt has been posting heated threads about the search engine, im sure hell even admit that. Maybe it is a short fuse.

I didnt ask a stupid question, I was trying to see if I could find a cheaper Air filter and do K&N some justice but not proving any good.

Rant is now over!

re: K & N or GSR ?

I havn't sided against K&N at all in this thread or any thread. I have claimed the GSR is better but the quality is reflected in the price. The GSR is far to expensive for what I want and if there is no other option availiable then I will leave it standard. I have been trying to find a good K&N system for the GP and do them some justice as they are alot less than GSR filter systems, the reason from what I have read about is the K&N is no good because it doesnt have a pipe intake like the GSR and was wondering if you guys could point out wether its good or not with this new system I have found. K&N not a bad air filter company just because they dont work well with the GP.

 Ive never said you have sided with a KnN? The issue isnt the filter it is the positioning of the filter. KnN just sits on the throttlebody sucking in hot air that is all. I would just leave it if you arent willing to buy a GSR.

I havnt I have just as I have gone back to add material which I have missed from previous posts to add in. I havnt changed it to make you look bad.

Dont get mad jeeez :yum:

Was looking around the Internet and Ebay last night and found these two items.

Now one is a K&N induction kit for a 1.4 GP but I realised there is a longer intake hose would this eliminate the stigma of those who dont like K&N because of the fact it does not have a long intake like a GSR, but on the other hand is this even included in the kit?

This is the second item, well 4, they are a set of 17'' sporting alloys for a low price, would you reccomend these to me? Whats your opinions?

Thanks (y)

The hose makes no difference just dont buy a K n N it cant even be compared to a GSR.

2nd link just takes me to ebay.co.uk

Still takes me to ebay home page. No there is nothing else as all "induction" kits are just air filters bolted to the throttlebody where as the GSR is a silicone tube that has actually had development hours put into it to see where it gains the most cold air.

no one is sayin the K&N filter is crap- its actually a very good filter medium, it's where they decide to place it that is the problem- the GSR kit has been designed to be placed in the correct place in the engine bay for the coldest air, and the silicone tubing is at the optimum diameter for the passage of air into the throttle body.

This why the GSR is more expensive- they've actually thought about what they were doing with it rather than just sticking a tube with a filter on the end and ensuring it fits under the bonnet.

EDIT: matt beat me to it

Ok fair comments I must say, thanks for the help (y)

Dont GSR retail at like £170 though? Could you get a K&N with a custom silicone pipe or would that be more than the GSR?

Ok, from the ebay homepage put in .... Grande punto alloys

That exactly

Ta

It woud cost you alot more than £170 to get a custom silicone pipe made up. Sure you can buy your own silicone pipe and do it but you will be pretty close to GSR price by then so you might aswell buy one off peter.

I'm just going to post these quotes, as it answers the question for you... hence the reason you didnt really need to post that question again :)
