Obviously you should declare ALL mods to insurance company...

My query is in regaird to the linear grill, as its a "standard" part on some grande's would i still have to tell them about putting one on mine?

I'm assuming I would..

My initial thought was that it wouldn't be somethin i would need to...but with my driving record I think they would want to know if i had an air freshener in it :bang:

Cant see them ever finding out though as im only 3rd party....ah who knows, stupid driving costing me a fortune!!!

If you crashed....it would be in pieces and they wouldn't know what it was ;)

Ahh mate, don't hate yourself! We all learn from expensive mistakes.

Haha, didnt think of it like that, that's genious thinking :p

Nah I'm not hating myself, im hating how much insurance companies LOVE people like me lol...I still think £178 a month for 1.2 8V 3rd party is a tad exessive.

Taking advantage with that, although it might be justified for whatever you did.

I remember I quote I got on a £3,500 VTR........£10,400! £870 a month lol! Didn't do it tho, obviously

I'm not really fussed about being refused a claim, as im only 3rd party if i hit a tree its of no relevance. It's just from a legal standpoint if i smash into someone else and they refuse to pay for the damages coz of it...im gonna be left with void insurance and being sued...i really dont want that lol

i personaly wouldnt tell them, but i had a mate who crashed, and was denied his claim because he had a gti badge on his 1.4 golf!

some companies are fussy about "badges that suggest increased power" or summat like that.
to the op, i wouldnt cos as dannygp said if you crash head on it will be ruined anyway and if in doubt jst pull it off lol

Insurance companies are worse than bankers or estate agents.... find any way to increase your premium and any reason to not pay out! (n)

if you have an insurance certificate in your hand that has valid dates, your insurers HAVE to deal with any third party claim under Road Traffic Act 1988 no matter what they decide to do with your policy

even if they ring you up and say "you've not paid your premium were cancelling your policy" until you send them back the certificate you still have FULL third party cover, and they will HAVE to deal with the claim from a third party in any crash while you still hold the certificate(y);)

So what your saying is i can do the hell i want to my car and i dont really need to tell them as i cant claim for damages to my car anyway...but im still LEGALLY covered from a 3rd party perspective?

yes, BUT as soon as you put that MOD on it validates your insurance (doesn't matter if they know or not the contract is void) and therefore the police could do you for no insurance that way,(the police's version of no insurance in simple terms is "a valid contract in place between the you and an insurance company stating they will provide cover under the terms of the Road Traffic Act1988", the courts version in simple terms is "a valid insurance certificate stating the insurance company will provide third party cover under the Road Traffic Act1988") this differs as the police are dealing with criminal law, and the courts are dealing with civil law (i know very confusing)

so you will not got a huge bill from the third party you have a crash with, but you could get a criminal court case brought against you by the police, which if was successful, would leave you with points? fines? under extreme circumstances a few weeks away, once you've been convicted of driving with no insurance this could then leave a door open for future proceedings from your insurance company for their money back from you but they'd be brave to do that and is very unlikely

Hmmm, im really torn as to what to do now...I cant stand having my car standard after it being lowered and what not.

I really cant afford to tell them bou the mods though coz im already paying a lot on insurance, and as for getting an IN10 on my licence, that would seriously f*ck me up as i already have a DR10...

Ahh I don't know, probs best just leaving it all alone :(

ring them up, tell them your thinking about doing MOD's tell them what and ask for a quote to add these to the car, may only be £50 or something

you'll never know how much it is till you ask

i'm pointing out the risks and worst case scenarios i'd say you've got 99% chance of never having any problems but its your choice on that 1%
