Ok so heres my quandry,

I now have some no claims bonus yipeeee...:D

I despair at the 1.2L ability to get up hills which we have a lot of in Telford in anything other than 3rd gear unless you get a good run up to them.

I figured it will cost me about £1500 to upgrade to a similar spec 1.4L.

Remap on the 1.2L plus induction kit is £350 ish, but it will put my insurance up, and there is the longevity question on the gearbag.

Which is better....any opinions?

From what i have heard on here (and i guess it makes sense) there is no point in re-mapping a 1.2... Better off with a bigger engine.
What insurance group are the 1.4's? Because for not too much more you should be able to get ur hands on an mjet... and theyve got great pulling power :)

i'm deciding if i should get a remap on my 1.2, there have been varied responses on here but if you look at the graphs (on the gsr site) it will make a difference to the power/torque.

So its the cheaper option i suppose but again it depends on insurance.

86bhp post map and 75ish standard isn't it? put an good back box on an maybe you'll get 87bhp lol

nice increase from the cams, wonder if he's had any headwork done.

I always thought the 1.2L was 65bhp standard, I'm sure that graph is the 1.4L 8v at 75ish standard.

Was looking to roughly match the power of the 1.4L 8v standard.

Jamies almost up to the 16v spec with the cams lol

1.2 8v stanard: 65hp

Jamies car: 89hp (or depending on where you read 90+)

the 1.4l 8v is stated 77bhp standard but when you get it on the rolling road its actually closer to 88bhp

so wouldn't surprise me if the 1.2 actually gives 75bhp standard

Jamies was special as it had a 1.4 8v head IIRC. Also those read outs were from Red Dot's rolling road which has come under some criticism recently for over reading (not by a big amount though).

 :(

I would be too gear cogs aren't too cock friendly tbh :nerner:.

But yea the gearboxes are crap on the 1.2 & 1.4L 8v's. The one on the 1.4 16v GP sporting is much improved over the one on the mk2/b 1.2/1.4 Sporting.

Are they interchangeable, if they are can someone else work out the ratios for me:bang::bang::bang::bang::bang:
