hi, im driving a fiat grande punto 1.4 active sport, an 06 reg with 18,000 miles, which ive bought from a fiat main dealer which ive had for 3 weeks, i have a problem with front brakes sqeeking constantly when braking, i noticed the problem after a week or so, and contacted my main dealer who said the likely problem could be caused by dust lying between the brake pads and brake discs or also not having the enough of the correct substance applied to the breaks, so after rinsing the brakes and wheels with a hose,

the brakes were damp when driving and the noise went away, as the wheels dried out the problem came back, i went to the dealer about this, the car is under warranty, but they said theres not alot they can do, i then took the car for a test drive with the mechanic, who heard the noise, he said they have a temporary substance that works but apparantly the problem comes back after a few drives, and advised that when the car is next due for service, which is over 10,000 miles away! ...to mention to strip the breaks, surely there is something that can be done? or anyone else that is having the same problem? advice welcome thanks!

The car should be repaired by the selling dealer (at their expense) prefably with modified brake pads. Strange this as this problem is pratically unheard of thesedays.

thanks for the advice and article link! i'll keep you updated on how things progress with the fiat dealer, i think that fiat might start thinking twice about there not being much to worry about when the brake pads/disks have been dry for a number of days again and this noise growing increasingly louder!

i cant understand how fiat seem to be the only car manufacturer who have this problem, and on a car which is 3 years old, then again fiat always have a "special" way of doing things!! lol

used to drive a 12 year old nissan micra until last year, which never got a single sqeek out of their brakes!!

I come across plenty of 'squeaky brakes' daily on all makes of car so you are incorrect in narrowing it down just to Fiat(s).

Again,its the sellers resonsibility to sort it.

I found that cerra tec brake grease worked best in the end

Hi, I have a 1.4 active sport 56 plate, my brakes do exactly the same thing. High pitched sqeaking at every stop, no hard braking is required to make this sound, its plainly general.
