Yes, those flipping leaves ;) in the fan are back just two weeks after getting them removed! What an incompetent design this really is. Turned on the Aircon and "thwap" something is sucked into the fan and I've got a buzzing whenever it's running now... FFS!

So basically, apart from being cheesed off with Fiat's shoddy designers, dashboard/door rattles not helping with this view, can anyone tell me if there's an easy way to access the fan and fix this??

I'm fairly handy with tools but have no experience in where to start with this as I've never gotten too oily with regards to cars... Cheers for any info ;)

i had this problem, asked fiat and they said we will charge you as its not Fiat's fault there are leaves in there.

Ive never had it in any other car, they've obviously ballsed up where the intake is, but can easily deny it

think mine picked up one coming off the f**kin forecourt! but if you turn the speed up and down a few times it normally seems to move it a bit, comes back after about half an hour though!

i get this problem as wel. i dont have air con though and the leaves usually come the whole way through and stick in the grills in the interior. just turn them off and open a window and only use the ents for the heater. solved my problem.

no need to remove glovebox,

1) remove torx 20 screw holding lower air diffuser (trunking) on under passenger side dash.

2) remove 3 x 5.5mm screws & heater motor falls out.

3) remove leaves from heater fan.

4) press leaves into your scrapbook.

5) refit motor with 3 x 5.5mm screws.

6) refit air diffuser & secure with single 20 torx screw

Is there a way to fit a filter? Such as a pollen filter as i dont think i have one :)

:yeahthat: i did it last week, had about 10 leaves in there. Took 10 mins. Good as new!

my fans seem to be pretty weak like an asthmatic blowing on me through a straw, is this likely to sort this or are they all like that?

believe it or not my local fiat dealer quoted 4 hours to take out and hit new heater motor,i took mine out because it was only working intermittently, cleaned up all the dust of the motor with compressed air, cleaned all the dirt from the housing, tested it and refitted it and it now works perfectly, thanks to T for advice on how to take it out, john

That's one hour for a warm up cup of tea.

One hour to point at it.

One hour to do it.

One hour for a wind-down cup of tea/laugh at how much money they've made:p

On a more serious note, you are all checking your fluids on a weekly basis and clearing the leaves out when you do it:p

no T just to take out heater motor and fit new one, even though when i took it in the heater and fan were actually working and i had the workshop controller witness it working by siting in the car when it was on,so when i read on here that someone on here took just 10 mins to take it out it made me a bit suspicious to say the least, hence they lost the business and i saved £121(what i was quoted for heater motor)plus 4 hours labour plus vat of coarse,it took me 30 mins to take it out ,clean it and put it back, and I had to borrow the tools to do it in that time and was a 1st time for me,not done it before, john

If its intermittent it could be the brushes on the motor, also check the resistor as both give the same symptons.

4 hours:shakehead:
