Technical F*****g leaves!

well mine has had about 3000 hrs usage,i'm in the car about 8 hrs a day ,sometimes more, since June 06,so not bad really,if it has gone,i've had me use out of it,managed to pick one up for £20 off ebay,i'll see what happens, john

Hi I have a grande punto 06 and my heater is working fine however the heater motor fan seems to be making a flapping noise when on. Now I've taken it into a local garage and they have said I need a new heater motor fan (n) however im reluctant to fork out the £200 without first having a checking to confirm it is in fact a broken or on its way out fan rather than just something i.e. leaves that has been sucked up into the fan!
Does it sound likely to be just something that has been sucked up into the fan? How can I check? Can I get to the fan through the glove box rather than taking the dash off? I can see the fan when I open the gove box...
I'd appreciate any help-Thanks

The fan is under the glove box - just a few screws holding it in.

Thake it out of the housing then run the fan and check for noise.
Probably leaves in the housing - remove them and all should be fine.

Don't know where they got £200 cost from 10 minute job - just a bit awkward.

Are these instructions valid for a right-hand drive car?

I ask as having removed the glove compartment on the passenger (left-hand) side of my Punto, there is no sign of any air duct or fan motor.

Thanks for the guide it made it easy. The 3rd bolt is hidden unless you get your head right under.
Fixed my intermittent heater fan in 20 minutes. It was a single small leaf trapped under one of the brushes.
Nice!
