Technical ABS Problem

T- a few of the smaller pins are bent and one snapped - the larger contacts all rusted through and one contact came off with the plug, the contacts in the plug looked rusted through. And last night I did practically faint as I really cant afford the repair bills at the moment and I'm really really not happy - its not even two and a half years old and yet this is happening? what happened to modern engineering, I was looking at buying another one but unfortunatly this problem has caused me to re-think the whole idea. you must have got a duffun Mine are still spotless after 3 and a bit years (as the pics in the guide show) and i have been through Fords in the moors in it washed the engine bay several times....

How deep are we talking? I went through a rtaher deep puddle, like up to brake disc level when we had those floods a while back but if it managed to splash up that far and get into the sealed plug unit like that then its a shockingly designed peice of kit anyway.

about 12" mine seemed very well sealed TBH

Actually this problem is rather rare, majority of faults are poor connection issues at the ABS sensor plugs themselves (normally offside front and rear sensors.).

Smiften.....can the ABS connector be saved is what i'm trying to say.You can replace one or two damaged terminals.

The connector was also rusted on the majority of the terminals but baring in mind one of the larger connectors (one of 4, which I'm assuming would be the wheel speed sensors) had actually rusted and seemingly welded itself to the terminal in the plug itself. what do you reckon T? and in your honest opinion, first registered Jan 2007 so when i first took it into the garage about this issue a few weeks ago it was 3 months into the 3rd year, would you talk to Fiat UK on behalf of the customer?

Happy days, they did it for free. Although worryingly the parts still look like the same ones. but the ABS works, tried it last night on a lonely road and it felt fine, same with the EBD. so my faith has been restored for now (y)
