not to sure on dealer prices might try a fiat specialist? reckon warranty would be ok, they'd only use fiat parts and have always tried harder imo to get a good job done on my old fiat! took photos on their phone of the insides of my car to explain what was wrong with it !

as far as the list they reeled off on the phone , as it has no DPF, they stated oil, oil filter, pollen filter(sorry my mistake, not air filer as that is 36k), which need doing every 18k, fuel filter isnt done till 36k/2years, oh and there is a sump plug washer....tighten handbrake...check fluid levels, and top up....thats it really states 1.30 for time in service book/....

oh and lubricate locks, hinges, bonnet hinges & catch, inspect front brakes/discs (rear discs or drums through backplate hole), check tyres & set pressures, check lights, check bodywork (underneath), check tappets (model dependent) check exhaust emissions, check for fault codes (mainly in fuel ECU but scan other modules), reset service light, reset oil degredation (if fitted), check for any software updates, check wiper blades & blade sweep/washers adjustment, heater controls, seat belts & finally road test.

dont worry about running over the service schedule, its not a major worry in a dealership, i worked there for 5 years, there highly overpriced, and poor customer relations, i now work in a fiat alfa independant garage, as long as manufacturer parts are used and the garage is vat registered, you can get your serviced for cheap, in my work, you can get a first service for i think 120 that comes with a forte oil treatment, which is the bees knees, always shop around n dont believe everything the dealer has to say, also independants can do the like of third year warrenty, and aftermarket warrentys, with much friendlier staff and more comunication

steve119 got his for £99 though which is cheaper than £120:confused:

Guy I knew was one of the main suppliers of forte products & said they were ok but expensive, no different from any other add on treatment garages try & sell. Wether they actually do work as good as they say (especially for the money) is up for debate, personally when a garage charges £12 for a £3 product i'm wary but as I said I have never noticed any difference using these products but if others find them beneficial then good.

and yet you dont mention you work for them here

I've been to test drive the 500 tonight with my sister as she is after getting one, tried to get the 1st service free and he said he cant do that but will fill the tank up for us. Anyway he said the first 2 services had to be done at the dealer because of the warrenty. so me being as i am said BULLSH*T. i can get it done at my garage and still have warrenty. he argued the point and then come out with if your garage is VAT registered and uses fiat parts then youll have a warrenty. My sister being a bit confused, i got up and said lets go before he cons us into something lol. But if anything ill be getting her to buy a 500 from my dealer where i got mine as they do servicing cheaper and honestly :D

Cheers matey might be worth giving them a try in the near future (y)

St Helens is actually closer than warrington and i never even knew they were there.

Just to let you know, my first service was back in November at the local FIAT branch and the cost was 70 euros. That meant oil change, oil filter change, DTC reading - diagnose, and brake verification. Not much.

just an update, just got my car back from blackpool fiat(chorley fiat) after having 1st service(18k), originally quoted 244, got them down to £160 all in :)

done a real good job, sorted squeeking rear brakes, re aligned glove box, updated ecu so the "excess radiat temp" warning has gone. and sorted dodgy passenger window switch that rarely worked.

i mentioned to them that my drivers leather seat is starting to crack, so they said no problem and are gonna order a new one for free :)

they lent me a new panda as courtesy car, defo wont be trading in my mjet for one, being 6foot 3, it felt a little cramped lol, ! felt like i was sat on the back seat!
