I've just put on the MS Design alloys that i picked up today which are 215/40s and havnt had any probs yet. Ride still feels exactly the same also. Havnt done any motorway driving on them yet but will find out on friday as im driving to Dorset.

I'll be needing 2 new ones soon... i forget which yokohomas are supposed to be good though?

think im going to end up going with Toyo Proxes

Now I am wearing the standard 205/45-17, but I would like to put on some wider tires 215/40.

Any of you guys have experience with that.

The Fiat alloy rim is only 6,5" wide and tiremanufacturers recommend at least 7" rim for 215mm tires.

215/40 or my preference 215/45 fit perfectly fine on the rim and offer a nice bit of protection for your precious alloys.

Some tyre fitters however will refuse to fit them saying they will hang over by 10 miles.

mine dont over hang, got 205/40 on the rear and 215/45 on the front.
9/10 people cant notice the different trye sizes!

215 makes the ride wayyy softer! also found when i had 40 profile on the front i was catching over speed bumps!
