At the top rear of the engine lives a plastic valve thingy that apparently uses engine compression to pressurize the fuel tank because its a sealed system.

Does anyone know,

a) what it's called ?

b) should it sound like a bad typist using an old manual typewriter ?

it can be heard quite clearly inside the car on tickover, it drives me mad!
