Does anyone know where to buy an upgraded/uprated clutch for Mjet?

Beany_bot is back...!

Clutch is on a dual mass flywheel mate, dont know if that makes a difference. I see Valeo mentioned regularly in Fiat Performance clutch queries but I dont know if they do one for the GPS MJet yet. How the feck have you broke or worn yours out? How many miles you done bud you must have ragged it to death! I got 45,000 miles on mine now and no hint of slip or judder and bites half way up the pedal stroke still....

Yep its a goner. Damn italians. Could just replace it but rather replace it with a better part.

you will laugh at this one, Turbo leaking oil all over the camp, though i was done for but Fiat say its just an oil pipe leading to the turbo, not the turbo itself! phew. hahaha

Not damn Italians mate.... fairs fair, have you been drag-starting and riding the clutch, I do need to know donchaknow! As I said mine is fine, oh and I started a Re-mapped MJet Social Group in here if you want to join us?

As for the turbo oil feed pipe, didnt your dealer have that off doing checks and stuff a bit back? Poor fitting IS a "damn Italians" case from manufacture but not if a "damn Scots" mechanic foobarred it for you! :p

That could have been terminal!

Aye, the Red Dot guys responded to my "I don't wanna fry the clutch each time I pull away comment" with - "Nah, these are good mate, never had a problem with ours, they're really strong"... So you must be giving it some!

strange, yeah ive never heard of an issue, it must have been going before the map anyway. I dont really drive it that hard?? maybe 5% of the time? drive it fairly hard, but not excessive, i certainly dont thrash it.

dont matter if you drive it hard when he clutch is engaged.

all the wear happens upon contact and release. Clutches are supposed to last a very long time, pre-mature wear is normally allways driver error.

Have to agree with Mr Clawliger here Beany.... in all the years I have been driving I only ever had 1 clutch, in an old Ford Anglia when I was 18. Since then, christ knows how many cars and vans later, never has a clutch worn out or failed in any way.... the last 5 cars before the GPS covered over 80,000 miles each with the Peugeot 407 diesel doing 129,000, was mint when I handed that back. Do you rest your foot on the clutch pedal or slip the clutch a lot, maybe hold the car on the clutch in 1st gear?

he may not know he is slipping the cutch as the dual mast flywheel can hide a bit of slippage due to the way it operates.

but yes, ive never been through a clutch.

as an example, my cousin passd his test 3 weeks ago, got a brand new clio1.2 tce thingy. needs a new clutch already. purely down to driver error.

Try www.clutch-specialists.co.Uk heard good things bout them, guys with remapped Stilo jtd's and mk II puntos use there performance clucthes. Meant to be really good and they listed about every fiat - well most cars! Will prob need to ring them as when I was looking GPS mjet wasn't there but they can supply one if you ring them... Was while ago! If not try GSR

Fair enough, could be driver error, allthough ive never knowingly ridden the clutch. Driven 160k on my last car never needed a new clutch. Strange. Few people have told me increased torque can put alot more strain on the clutch?

thank you(y)

hows that then?

Empathy.... dont ask the turbo for boost at or below 1,500 rpm in a high gear for starters.

Get the motor boiling between 2,000 and 4,000 Rpm and make life easy for all the engine and transmission bits, and just in / out with the clutch with minimal revs or slip when pulling away.

Ok so contacted clutch specialists.co.uk and they said for a GP from 140bhp - 170 bhp, they have a "fast road" clutch, and above 170bhp they reccomend going to a full paddle clutch.

Was wondering, Is a paddle clutch not quite hard to drive in town. is it not on or off and a bit brutal?
