I am greatly enjoying my new Punto, but I have a question.
Should I have noticable (not loud, but noticable if the stereo isn't on) wind noise at 50-60 mph plus ?
It sounds like at the door seal top area, but no noticable draught I can feel. I have looked and everything appears to be clipped in place.
Is it how the GP is ? (I haven't seen any other posts on it).
Anyone know what might be the cause ?

I have no wind noise at any speed Vogon, see if you can see any excessive movement in the top corner of the doorframe from outside with the door shut & you outside when you are parked up, the door may not be aligned properly.

Thanks guys, it looks aligned at the top rear corner with the rear door at standstill.
Maybe it had a few more openings as it was a showroom model, which has affected the door top rubber, although I can't imagine it would have had enough to make a difference.
Maybe I should book it in for the dealer to check out.

Physically the mirror is clicked "home", I will try moving it off the clicked position a little.

If I lift the closed door by the handle I get a very small (max 1mm) movement, but I would have thought thats normal ?

OK T, mirror fully folded and wind noise still the same, seems like top of door area (although I know sounds can be deceptive to pinpoint).
Like I said, I can feel no draught, so I am thinking maybe the outer door seal, it appears clipped in properly and the door looks aligned with the rear at the corner, if anything its tiny amount higher.

i get some noise from my mirrors but thats it, i dont even notice it as my radio is on.

Aye, checked the obvious but often forgotten things ;)
I have phoned the dealers to have a look, see if they can sort it :)

OK, a quick update:
I have just got back from the dealers preliminary look, they don't think its any of the door seals (he taped up the drivers door and still has the wind noise).
The tech seems to think it could be a missing internal grommet or seal somewere, so they have booked me a courtesy car for next friday so they can spend some time and have a more thorough look.
Fingers crossed they sort it, as otherwise, I am very happy with the car :)

I have quite abit of wind noise too anything above 40mph. When I was on the motorway I had a friend who was following me and he said when he got close he heard a whistling noise coming from my car.

I thought the wind noise is like that on all of them being a cheap car.

And people who say 'I get no wind noise", thats impossible. My dad gets wind noise in his E class at higher speeds. Cos whether you like it or not wind is hitting your car whenever you move.

Just got the car back, still present.
The tech can hear it too, but says its the same both sides, I disagree, its normal wind noise on the passenger side, much more on drivers.
Tech noticed the driver door sits a bit further back than the passenger, (I pointed out I noticed the rubbing strip on the rear door rubbed on the front when the rear was opened), so its now booked into the body shop at the end of April to have the door fully re-aligned.
Aparrently the Techs can only alter the striker plate, not the main hinges or whatever it needs.
Fingers crossed that cures it finally !

I have noise at 60+ never thought anything of it, it is quite loud but i normally have my stereo on loud enough to not notice

My car is brand new, so its all under warranty.
Your door may just need the striker latch adjusting, if your car isn't under warranty you could do that yourself.

General wind noise at 60 mph plus is normal, mine has a definate abnormal noise, sounds like a door seal, but I can't feel any draught, so I assume it must be the outer seal.
Its only a minor thing, but it is driving me nuts :p
Now It has been pointed out, I can see there is a bigger gap between the driver door and front wing, than the passenger front door and front wing, so I hope the re-alignment sorts it.

I tried 3 cars in succesion and they all 'induced' wind noise at 60+, seems to be concentrated around the gap between wing mirror & door. If you wet the car in this area then go on motorway you can see the water swirling in a circular motion at bottom corner of glass and mirror...I can only assume its turbulance?

I also completely taped up the door/wing,glass etc and the noise was still there...got a friend to drive the car and could hear it on the otherside aswell.

I did seem to be worse when it was windy.

That sounds different to my issue T, Mine is definitely quieter (normal) on the passenger side, and seems concentrated at the top of the door.
Its a very sharp sound, as if you have the window open just a crack.
I have driven 2 other Grande Punto's now, both were 3 door (mine is 5) but neither had that particular noise, just the general muted noise you would expect.
The Tech said he had the mirror off to check all was in place there, and checked the area were the wiring goes in the door as well as the window seals.
If the trip the bodyshop doesn't cure it, I won't be a happy bunny :bang:

yes thats right top of glass...had one today on motorway & I kept putting my hand along the glass at top to see if it went away...as you say its sounds like window open few mm's.

There is a 2 service news that your tech has probably seen but if not its worth a quick check. He would need to look them up himself if not, I feel its not my place to give out such info on the web.
