Just got in from a drive from stoke, while i was down in stoke i filled the car up with petrol, to the brim. curious of miles per gallon i do i went down the motorway at 70mph and in 6th gear on way home, computer was reading 49.8 miles to gallon, wandering if this is good or not??? round town it does about 33.3 mpg :( which i thought was a bit rubbish my old Gp derv did about 70 mpg on motorway and about 45mpg round town, my new is 7months old (owned from new) and has done 7312 miles 1.4 16v? big question is am i getting goood mpg and moaning about nothing or is it crap and worth mentioning to dealer and see if they can do anything ?

(dwindsor - hope you can help on this matter matey, as you have the same car basically lol)

thanks in advance everyone :D

My computers average with the same engine is around 40mpg give or take, in real life brim to brim that means about 38, mostly around town. But for 70mph that reading you are getting of nearly 50mpg is pretty damn good, I dont get that much, maybe 43 if im lucky, and thats if there are no hills. mind you I get bored and cant really sit at 70 for long!

Mine seems to drop off dramatically at any sort of speed, the worst I got was driving through northern France on the motorway and I got 32mpg!

49.8 Mpg is good for a petrol and 33 around town about normal.

70 Mpg in an "old GP derv" is absolutely astonishing TBH!
But again 45Mpg - ish around town is good.

I dont think you have anything to worry or complain aboutbut personally I would have kept that diesel sipping Derv GP you had! :D

I get about 350 - 370 to a tank....probably could get more, but I enjoy giving myself whiplash with the remap :D

Nah thats quite good mpg tbh... my 1.2 gets around 50mpg combined and around 40 in town but then its slower so i think its about right.

the derv was the best gp i owned but the one have now i love to bits just not the mpg lol,
i used to get about 650 to a tank of derv and now i get about 350-400 miles to a tank now :(
the reson i got the petrol was because of the 6 gears lol
the derv was the best and i regret getting rid now :( or even so i should of got a derv in my new one

Sorry but what a sh!te reason to get a car.

Lol I agree Matt! 600+ Mpg is well.... almost unbelievable TBH on the previous derv, mine is pretty good and I get around 425 - 450 per tankful... when I fill it up. I usually just put £30 - £35 worth in save lugging around all that derv....

maybe try another gear, i have +- 5,5 l / 100km wich is about 60miles... at a speed of 130+- km/h wich is about 81 miles.

but if i drive in the same gear +- 70 km about 45miles i have a consumption of 7 liters...

what so you are saying you get more mpg at 130km/h than at 70km/h?

My economy seems no worse at 85 ish than it does at 70 and the car sits happier at higher speed in 6th....as its not great whichever way you slice it that suits me, anymore than 90 and I may aswell burn 10 quid notes! I tend to use 5th gear at less than 75 so I stand a chance of overtaking things quickly

my last car was a 1.3 derv and brill on fuel, i regret getting my new one in a petrol now :( i just wish i could of got a diesel :( the petrol is a good car but i just thought it would of been some what better on the fuel consumption :( other than the mpg its a brill car :)
