I have seen this mentioned before, and as the GP Dynamic I am picking up at the weekend has no spare due to being fiat supplied to the dealer with alloys (would have had one if it was a dealer fitted option lol) I set about trying to source a spare (I am of the age were I just don't think its right not having a spare for emergencies) :p

I found a website had a brand new steel wheel for £53 plus vat and delivery, but that seemed a bit pricey.

Anyone in the same boat, it might be worth phoning Ken Allen (can provide phone number but as I am not sure if it contravenes the rules here I will not post it yet).

I got a steel wheel with tyre and the jack and brace from them all for £50 delivered.
Its due tommorow so I don't know how accurate their description was, (will update when I recieve them) but the chap I spoke to was very helpful and friendly and it seemed a reasonable price to me.

I used the original grande punto jack kit with a 17' sporting wheel .
There is no problem fitting them. The space in the boot is sufficient.

From what he said, its straight out of the back of an 07 model, he was going to take a wheel from the car initially as thats all I requested.
But when I asked about the jack/brace he said its all complete in there, so hopefully I will get the whole package from the back including the foam (?) moulded insert.
TBH even if its just loose jack and brace with the wheel it would be an improvement over the puncture kit. But if its the whole package I will be very happy :)

Fitting shouldn't be an issue, they all have room for a spare.

So is it from a car breaker, ie. a one off? Or can he suppply new kits? I would be interested if it was brand new.

Yes its from a breaker.

If you want brand new, I have found just the steel wheel itself for £53.07 plus vat and delivery which brings it to £70.17.
Then you need to buy a tyre and jack and brace.
So you can see why I checked the breakers ;)
I would imagine most breakers who have a GP in would have the spare and tools, at least until everyone starts going to them !
In most cases I would imagine they are in good condition as its not something that gets used too often, and being as the GP model is only 3 years old too.
Even if it isn't mint, its all under the boot mat so it wont be seen until you need it, and then you will be glad of it whatever it looks like :)

I am a bit of a saddo when it comes to buying things for my car. Has to be new, or look new. Like to keep my car in as original condition as possible, even the bits that canny be seen. When I come to sell I always try to sell privately, and these wee touches help to sell it. Don't even let the wife drive it. Although I have had my fair share of problems with my two GPS Multijets I have always managed to keep them looking as good as new.
Anyway, back to the business of your post. Does sound like a good deal if it is all there. I'll have a look around the local scrappies and see what is available.

Its arrived and all there including the plastic tool tray/holder :)
A quick washdown and it looks fine, not mint but perfectly acceptable.
