i had to pay the diagnostic charge too, came to £64 inc vat, felt relieved to hear the EGR was covered.

Saved me forking out over £200 for fiats price for a new EGR.

Just thought I would resurrect this thread rather than starting a new one (so the info is all in one place ;))

Ive had EGR problems over the last 3-4 weeks, and after a few failed attempts at cleaning, we decided it was an electrical fault and therefore it needed replacing.

I was quoted pretty much the same price as the OP from Fiat for the valve, so I decided to have a go at sourcing a GM version of the valve. I found a Saab dealer selling the valve for the 1.9 8v 120bhp engine on eBay for £99 brand new, so I took the chance. The part number is identical to the Fiat number, and therefore is a straight swop. The GM part number for future reference for people wanting to replace the valve cheaper is B1055215032, the Fiat number is 55215032. :)

Cheers Adam... looks like I am finally joining the band of brothers with EGR needed after 61,000 miles... I'll fit the Swirl plate while I'm at it.

Glad to hear the saab part was a straight swap. I recently started suffering the egr probs again, so took mine off and gave it a good clean, now back to normal.

Surely if the Diagnostic revealed a fault that the warranty covered then the Diag free gets included on their invoice to the warranty co not to you?
