Is it possible to have a second hand remote reprogrammed to work with another car (2007 GP)

Roy

Don't waste your money- it won't code-in.

All Code 2 keys leave the factory with a "secret code" which makes it only compatible with the Body Computer of the vehicle it's for.

I found this out for myself ages ago when we had two mk2 Punto's in for locksets one week, and Parts issued me with the wrong set.

So some say it can be done some say not. Has anyone actually had one reprogrammed. I would be happy with just the remote locking/unlocking working

All means every Code 2 key, be it Mk2 Punto, Bravo, Stilo, Multipla, 500, etc. :bang:

There's been threads in the Stilo section about this too, with the same answer.

By all means try it..... I'd rather spend the £60ish on a tankfull of petrol.

Yes, had it done, cost £30 labour plus the £10 to get the code from factory

Thanks Joeraz, did you get a new blade and were from. I can only find one supplier from Greece on Ebay

For that one i paid £110 for a new button and blade but i have another button bought from ebay with someone elses key,, im just using it as a spare and as far as the key blade goes, i have it with a standard key,, i have an OEM (clifford) alarm which uses the remote so thats why i need the extra buttons.

AH so thats why you say yeah done it. YOU HAVENT.

What you have done is used the remote (which can be programmed to any vehicle) not the immobiliser (which is vehicle specific).

So as the experts have said its not possible to buy a used key and have it fully functioning on another car. It is possible to buy a used key, remove the transponder and blade from a working non remote type key, have it fitted into the used key and then programme the remote into the car.
