Hi guys,

Iv been looking through the service schedule and im a bit confused.

My car is a 1.9 sporting and was registered in July 2006 and has done 17,600 miles. Its last service was done in July 2008 at 12,500 miles. Therefor i have done about 5,000 miles since.

When would my car be ready for its next service?

Excuse me if i'm being a bit dim.

Cheers.

Whats the difference betwrrn the 12,000 mile & 18,000 mile service interval? and should it be serviced on those intervals( 12, 24, 36, 48 etc or 18, 26, 54 etc)?

Next service due July 09. Due to the low mileage i would say every 12 months imo

:yeahthat:
Bang on, 12 month or 18000 miles whichever comes first. If you only do low milage, it will be 12 months.

18k, 36k, 54k etc or every 12 months (y)

Just out of interest, if you have the 12 month services due to doing less than 18,000 miles. How do you know which service to ask for? The service booklet only says what needs doing according to mileage.

Any ideas? I'm confused

Read on further to the "Low mileage annual service" section. ;)

Basically if you do less than 9,000 miles a year you can have a low-mileage service as laid out in the book.

However please note: the low mileage service can only be carried out in place of the 18k/1st year, 54k/3rd year, 90k/5th year, etc. It must have a full service (as in the normal schedule) every 2 years.

Thanks for that, so am I right in thinking for the 2nd / 4th / 6th year service etc. I should have the 36,000 / 72,000 / 108,000 mile service?

Yep, this is to ensure all the filters and spark plugs (petrol) are replaced, rear brakes checked, brake fluid changed, etc. Otherwise people will keep having just the oil changed (it happens!).

You should've had a normal 36k/2nd year service last year, so this year you can have a low-mileage service (oil and filter change, lights and levels). ;)

well it sailed through its MOT today :D asked the MOT chap (who my dad has known 3 generations of his family) to have a check for anything under it that needs looking at before it runs out of warenty and he said it was spot on.. Whilst i was talking to him i asked for a quote for a 18K service (which it has just reached)

wait for it.................
