got a nice crack in my windscreen so looked into replacement.

my insurance company for starters have an awful policy about it and aparently are the only people who do this so read the small print. www.swiftcover.com won't take away your no claims if you claim for a windscreen but they won't give you an extra year at the end of your current policy effectively meaning you lose that years ncb, so i thought look into it to see how much that years ncb will save me £280!

and seeing as they charge a £65 excess to use insurance company for it would cost me £345, started ringing around windscreen replacment companies, first called autoglass got quote down to £440 ridiculous imo then called national windscreens as the local branch had sorted me out for car glass few times with other cars and nice bunch of guys down there, had a chat with the guy on the phone told him about my insurance and autglass, got me a quote for £140 +VAT

worth checking small print on your insurance documents to avoid getting stung!

yeah nice guys too,had my old fiesta broken into few years back was gunna cost about £200 (3windows) and they asked what the excess was on insurance and was about £80 but they did it for £60 cos thats all i had in my pocket and didn't even worry about insurance!

Hi I had a crack appear on my windscreen in the centre at the bottom no sign of stone damage. As the car was under warrenty I returned it to the dealer and Fiat agreed to replace it Free of Charge under the guarantee as there was a spot weld problem on the screen surround. I live in Spain so Fiat Spain sorted it, but this should be the same in Uk.

aint the gp's windscreen bonded:confused: which so i have heard is more difficult to replace to the fitters and more prone to accidental damage during refitment....????

I pay an extra $38.00 AUD (16 GBP)on my insurance, this entitles me to one new windscreen per year if required. Does not affect my no-claims. :)

Already replaced one screen, only had a tiny chip and a crack 1cm long. Insurance company did not even inspect it before it was replaced..

most uk companies have similar policy where it only cost approx. £70 and doesnt affect any insurance info ie, ncd but im with the only one that charges you and takes 1yrs ncd!

were cheapest by miles and finding out why!
