Hi just wondering if its possible to put an abarth turbo on the 1.4 t-jet? and if so will it void any warranty because of it being a Fiat part still? also how much would i be looking at for the actual turbo? (dont need to worry about fitting costs :D) any info would be appreciated thanks!

Yes it'll void your warrenty and I'd imagine a lot. Infact it would be much better value to buy an Abarth. Considering you'd have to get a remap done, alter loads of other components and even then I doubt it'd work as well or if it's even possible.

Search FFS. Of course it will void your warrenty. The warrenty is for standard engine. You are looking at £400 for turbo and at least £200 for a map to get it working to its potential.

Would it not be a good idea to get everything else as well such as brakes and what not?

No point going faster if your gonna have to spend longer slowing down as you won't get anywhere quicker!

Actually the brakes on a T-jet are very good. Front discs are 284mm in diameter, which is more than enough for a Punto.

I'd imagine it'd be enought to put on some good fast road pads and high-carbon discs, such as Ferodo DS2500 and Brembo Max or similar.

id upgrade the brakes too, if you speak to anyone who goes on track days they will tell you that you can make up a LOT of time over a car that has more power by having better brakes...

oh and for those that dowt the difference between the brembo brakes on the abarth and the ones on the m-jet (i presum the T-jets are the same???) they are an ALFUL lot shaper and stop the car a LOT quicker... beleive me iv tried :p

Either way, as soon as he throws a bigger, better turbo onto his car the insurance companies will go mental. Especially as he's only 19/20. A bad boy exhaust that adds about 5bhp and a really loud noise can add enough let alone going for uprated brakes, a remap, an induction and a new turbo.

Wouldn't be worth it imo.

Im perfectly capable of deciding if it is worth it for me to do it. To start it would be an upgrade on pads discs and braided brake lines and then go from there if i need better stopping power.
