Technical EGR Valve sevice or warranty issue

Cars in the garage as I speak having the EGR Valve cleaned (Snow stopped the replacement arriving in time). The Tech said that it was full of carbon deposits, not just a bit but f'in loads of the stuff. Hopefully this will cure my warning light but I won't know till later. From the sounds of things If you have 55/06/56 plate mjet then it would be advisable to track down your local specialist (I use Alfashop here in Norfolk) and get it cleaned (or do it yourself as a few guys on here have already done.

Ive cleaned mine and took me about 2 hours... that with 3 tea breaks! lol
I believe that the EGR on the 1.9 is not too difficult to get to, while the EGR on the 1.3 is round the back and a pain to get to.

You haven't cleaned his though, have you?
You're implying it's a relatively easy job, but you've got a 1.9, and he's got a 1.3, which (apparently) isn't so easy. :)

Yeah the 1.3 isnt easy to get to apparently. I cleaned mine, but wont do it again as its such a bi*ch to do.

Really Lee? Your guide gave me the confidence to have a go! Whe the weather warms up of course but at the mo mine seems to be going bril, no lack of power at any revs, no jerkiness, no smoke from the zorst even if I boot it and returns great economy still. Maybe I'll pay the garage who service it next to do the biz.

TBH taking it off was really easy, but putting it back together wasn't fun. Maybe it was my first time of doing it, so next time I clean the EGR valve then ill know what to do, but im not in no hurry! lol

Business opportunity... 2 pairs of hands better than 1.

Oil and filter changes plus EGR cleaned, yea its a bit limited but I think peeps would pay for their "intermediate" oil and filter swaps (the re-mappers for sure) and to get the EGR cleaned out at the same time... (y)

Should we start a business and do all this for our fellow Fiat'eers! lol

I tell ya mate, specialising will be a good earner. Bulb swaps, pollen filter swaps, brake / suspension upgrades where customers bring their own kit to have it fitted at a good deal price when they not too smart with spanners or lack space to do the work.... Hmmmm...*makes mental note to self...*

cleaning didn't fix the issue. EGR was f%%ked and has to be replaced

could start up a Fiat dealership!

How far do you go with the cleaning ? i am going to take mine off a clean it this week which i done about 2 years ago on my punto. The first time there was sludge in the egr and in the manifold, i could not get into the manifold to get it out. With the valve out the way is it a easy job to get the manifold off or is there anyway of cleaning in place.

Thanks
