Technical "CD Error"

the units are covered for one year BUT they have changed it to 2 years i heard at work so dont stress yet. also if you have a problem with unit rather than moaning about it the best thing to do is book to dealer they will tell ya and if not call customer care they understand the problem and aint a horrible group and if they feel it something they should help with they will!

8 track;)

2 years

That must have improved with the latest 5-year warranty. My 07 model has the original 3 year warranty and the audio part of that lasts for only 12 months. :(
Took it to the dealer (it was a couple of months out of warranty) and was told that in their experience of such problems FIAT would not budge on the warranty terms.

Its been 2 years on many audio units on different cars but again only on certain models...only blaukpunt can answer that one?

Blaukpunt will repair any of their products but in my experience its cheaper to buy a good branded aftermarket headunit.

Just back from the dealers and amongst other eyebrow raising issues they are going to replace the head unit under warranty :D

That's good news. My booking is for tomorrow, so hopefully I'll get a resolution. Touch wood, I don't any other 'issues' except one. Maybe I'll ask about the wonky glovebox, as I gather that's a Punto trademark!

Did they just look at it and seen that it reproduced the problem you described or did they do any other testing on it?

I spoke to the mechanic as Fiat phoned me and he said he was going to do some testing, and there was a CD in the stereo when i picked the car up, so i presume they had done some testing.

How did you get on with yours mate (y)

They took my unit away for repair today. Said I should get it back within 10 days :( I can't go that long without a stereo in the car.

He did say right enough that he expected it to be here by next Friday, as they have been quite quick lately. Which prompted me to ask if it was a common problem, which it apparently is.

I guess I'll just need to pray for a quick turnaround.

if your stereo keeps ejecting your cd i found a quick but not permanent fix to this, put your cd under your leg and it is cold and it is spitting it out as it is cold and out your heating of full blast and it should warm your stereo up also, this works for me as it drives me insane when im trying to drive
