Occasionally my GP's mileage display flashes (at the same rate as the low outside temperature warning etc.) after starting up. If I stop the engine for a few seconds then restart, chances are the flashing has stopped - otherwise it will continue for the whole journey. There's no mention of this in the handbook as any sort of warning indicator and it's not due for a service. Anyone else had this? :)

Wait till summer comes and it will stop on its own, along with all the error mesages :D

yep, mine too. I ve just had 18k service and it still does it randomly.

I kind of remember something being said about this in my handbook for the punto Mk3 I had before getting GP, but I cant remember what it said unfortunately. Probably something like T14086 said.:bang:

Mines been in 3 times and still does it.:p

My dealer has had at least 5 goes at it, but as soon as it gets cold outside it comes back along with error mesages relating to the power steering and engine temp, but they all stop if I restart the engine. The problem is in some way down to the effect the cold has on the cars electrical system. My dealer either cant or are not prepared to fix the underlying issue and I have given up worrying about it........if something goes pop I will just throw it back at them under warranty......and when the warranty does run out at the end of the year its going to be a case of..."Arrivederci il mio amico Italiano".

Well at least it's a relief to see it's not just mine! Italian electrics are much better than they used to be but far from perfect. My 'Blue & Me' sometimes works, sometimes doesn't and the CD player is so unreliable as to be useless (see thread 'CD Error'). Oddly enough I like the car despite these irritations.

In 'sledge's' case it seems voltage related (bigger battery?) but alot of 'flashing milages' are caused by confusion of the convergence unit due to the operator having non-music files on usb pen (it dont like pictures/certain types of files)

Wifes one has been doing same. We had car to a dealer last year who said that this is due to poor protection from water ingress in passenger side front wing, this causes water to get through to ECU? or electrics that control this readout. He said that they place a plastic liner in inner wing and that cures it. Not sure if this is the case, be great to hear if anyone else has heard about this fix?

Load of bo****ks imo. Mine usually does it within 5/10 mins of starting journey, rain or shine. Drove down to Sussex a while age during the floods and it didnt flash at all. If water was getting in to ECU or electrics you would get more than flashing mileage ;)
