Yes I know its a known fault - my question regards the warranty.

My car is literally 2 weeks into its 3rd year warranty period and low and behold the vent trim has popped up at the drivers side! :bang:

Will this be covered (especially as this is a common fault with older GPs)?

What's the best tack to take with the dealer? (i.e. :worship: or )

Can you not fix this yourself? I would imagine the best tack with anyone to take is :worship: rather than . (y)

If it is a fault you have had that has not been rectified during the first 2 years then it should be done under the third year warranty (hope that made sense). I have had 4 fitted and as soon as i use the heater it goes again so i am driving round a bit chilly at the mo, because i know it will go when it gets heat on it. On 3/4 heat it just starts to lift up:bang:

I suppose what I'm getting at is even if general time isn't covered under 3rd year warranty - given that this is such a common issue and that it's just into the 3rd year period, will it be covered?

I think it's possibly been out for a while but it became noticeable yesterday when I had the fan on position 4 to clear the windscreen.

Be honest! its not covered under 3rd year but if you have full service dealer history then a goodwill claim is likely to be succesful. Trying to repair it (especially if clip has broken) is honestly waste of time.

If you prefer to do it yourself its around £24 (ish)

Will try and see them face to face tomorrow. I find its easier to speak to them in person rather than over the phone. Hopefully they will take pity on me as I've been a regular "customer". Oh and the flashing mileage made a come back the other day

Thanks for the advice T14086 (and others).

Yeah I've had the flashing mileage saga played out in the forums, got a new battery fitted a few months ago and it was thought then that it was sorted. I think the dealers as fed up as I am, lol.

Whats the middle round knob thing in the middle? does that need to be turned or something?

I'm about to order a new one for mine as second time it's gone and am 3 months into third year warranty.

So correct me if I'm wrong do I just rip the whole thing off?

Sorry to drag up an old thread! But my dash vent trim is sticking up on the drivers side and its doing my head in! lol. if its just a case of pull the old one out and sticking a new one in its place I'd prefer to do it myself. Does anyone know where I can buy the part? I've seen them on e-bay but I'm not a member and don't really fancy signing up, anywhere else online I can order one from? :)
