Just thinking of getting a Punto and have test driven quite a few cars, the punto is in my price range and quite good but I thought road noise was bad (though not that bad compared in the price range). My dad has a citroen XM which is just totaly silent and I wondered if it is possible to get the same silence in a Punto with soundproofing. I contacted a local company http://soundproofingforum.co.uk/

And they gave a quote of £200 for the materials but said they could not fit or guarantee the results, I wonder if anyone can recommend somewhere that could fit soundproofing and also tell me what possible results will be?
 
Id be keen to try this as I do alot of Motorway miles in my GPS and one thing I do think is terrible is the road noise, Im still on the potenzas though,

where would you put the sound proofing? Boot Floor, spare wheel well, under the back seat, couldnt really think of anywhere else that would make a big difference,

I also get a bit of wind noise from my drivers door too :S
 
my friend i have the 3 door 95 and these are the sound ''modifications'' i've made.
i have used 12 tar papers(dynAMAT AND 3M) (total weight of 10kgm)to the hatchback and to the spare wheel(UNDERNEATH).over the papers i have sticked armaflex.the aramflex combined with tar paper makes very good vibration reducer.not soundproofing. for that i used the ricofon above all the others.the ricofon is in the shape of egg keepers.under the car mats i have installed 2 cm thick ricofon which has made the ride more luxurius. now, inside the plastic cover of the back seat i have installed a soft cloth which has eliminate the rattles and ricofon for soundproof.a lot of work and broken clips but minimal results.only for the joy to work in the car. :)
 
also did you know that fiat is selling a car mat for underneath the back seat. it is very thick and has a very big soundproofing quality.i've installed this as well.
 
How do they help? Do you mean size or something?
the smaller the rim the better comfort and silence to the car. that is because of the bigger tyre profile (bigger vibration absorption) and the lighter rim which results to lesser stress on the springs and shocks.
