fiats arent pefect, they are cheap. They go wrong a bit and you need to fix them yes its anoyng but to be honest i like it, i like fixing my car, it creates and bond between you and your car. making the car much more loveable, gives it more personality than a different marque.

i see exactly what your saying im a truck mechanic and i love taking things appart and fixing them and feeling the satifaction that ive just fixed that, the problem i have its still under warrenty and dont realy wana invalidate that :p, i love the car just kinda fed up with taking it in and loosing it whilst there fixing it because they havent got any courtsy car available but i suppose ive jst got to take whats given to me.

Problem today is there is too much technology in modern cars, you have to plug them in to the computer to find out whats wrong. Mines "going back again(n)" after two coils its still juddering at 2k revs. Not a happy bunny:cry:

I dont think its totally down to technology, you also have to take into account customers not willing to leave their vehicles for a 'decent' amount of time (the age of the 'waiting customer' is well and truly here) but likewise the garages fault for not allowing the technician enough time due mainly to overbooking. The training is there & so is the equipment to carry out the work however let us not forget the biggest problem of all, the dreaded 'intermittent fault' !

Well mines going back for a third time, same problem, the program on the computer says "Coil" fault/problem, but I think its something else, 2 coils in a week :bang: ???????

The dash warning says check engine and the little engine light comes on, but it seems to go off after a couple of days. I have had more trouble with this GP than I had with my MK2 Punto in over 6 years.

If they cannot fix it this time I'm seriously thinking about trying another Service Centre

Couldn't agree more(y) besides it boring if everything works as it should you go outside with your toolbox all forlorn and there's nothing to do:cry:

This stems back to the age old problem of 'if the computer says this bit is at fault it must be' which is totally wrong. The computer is only one tool/a guide to the fault and that component should be 'proved' to be faulty. This is why I dont take generic code readers too seriously (£35 ebay ones) yes they can be useful but they cannot aid in diagnostics like examiner can.

In your case I take it that plugs/leads/ECU has been checked?

OK
just got off the phone with the Service Manager, they are going to have a long hard look at it, so they gonna keep it and give me a Courtesy Car. BUT, will have to wait till next Tuesday. If they have it for a week, I don't mind, as long as its fixed when they finished.

i took my car in with a misting up fault and they told me there was nothing wrong with it, i had a look and found that the recuculate was stuck on so i phoned them and booked it back in and when i pointed them in the right direction and amazingly there was the fault and it was fixed sometimes its better to try check it out yourself if you know how.

It would of been the first place i would of looked but they obisvisly didnt and it made them look stupid when they gave me attude when i took it back in and two hours later they phoned me telling me they found the fault. in my work we have a first time customer satifaction and we try to keep 100% each month but all that means is fixing the job first time not second time and keeping the customer happy i wasnt happy with them.

Lewis...

FIND ANOTHER DEALER WHO VALUES YOUR CUSTOM.

They are out there you just have to look around, I know its a pain but it seems like your dealer is actually depressing you.... Take charge of your life and dont stand for being one of lifes victims...
