Well, come back from new york dont use the car for a further 10days (work vehicle) and now when its idle there is a horrible, HORRIBLE! tapping coming from what seems to be behind the driver side wheel/arch.

Anyone know what it could be before I give it to the "professionals" to sort out.

Danny this was the only rattle I ever had on my car, it turned out to be the wheel arch liner loose on my car, back wheelarch drivers side.

There is also the back seat rear that can seem to be latched in correctly but actually isnt.

You have got oil in it?

I'm not even going to comment.

Is it a loud tap or just an annoying tap?

Its pretty loud considering its idle......and then nothing when on the move.

I'm pretty certain it isnt the arch linings because I personally tightened them when I put my mud flaps on. But i will be deffo checking that anyway when I get home.

I hope its nothing serious :(

1.4 16v & 1.3 MJ-75/90 have hydraulic tappets. After 10 days a bit of tappet noise would be expected which would soon disappear after a short drive when the engine warmed up.

This sounds like it could be it.

Since then I've took the car to Leeds, and Newcastle twice. But my dad said he noticed it. Going to have to have a listen tonight!
