OBD socket

Just a random one to supress my curiosity. Where is the OBD socket on the GP. I remember on my old Mk2 it was in the fusebox by the drivers right knee.

Re: OBD socket

I havnt found the fuse box yet, seems well hidden. But the OBD port is hidden under a trim panel on the front of the dash in front of your right knee as Andy said. Theres a small pocket in the trim panel with a hole at the top. Open the door, put ur fingers in the hole and give it a really good tug straight toweards you and it should pop right off. Its quite worrying how much force is needed but it seems the panel is up to it.

5 he breaks one of the 2 clips at top of EOBD panel cover

Fusebox is behind glovebox (to the left often behind metal bracket)

Re: OBD socket

i'm not techie

trick is to ease the panel of gently at the top (pull it from the bottom & it will break the top clips) then once off put a 'dab' of grease on the top clips...next time you remove it it will come of easily
Thanks mehstg thanked for this post

careful not to glue it so it can't be taken off without causing further damage
might want to buy a replacement cover

cha-ching! send me the money

I prefer to use a hot glue gun for the clips (they are only about 5-8) and dont forget a little grease on the clipsbefore you fit the cover to help it come off next time

Still fits nicely with one superglued clip......cant wait to break the other.

Chances are when I do break the other I'll unclip the EODB socket from its holder and cable tie it further down so I can get to it without removing the stupid panel....

Which on LHD does perform a job of covering the fuse box...

Re: OBD socket

Found some super glue in the draw and it seems to have done a pretty good job!

Sods law that the engine light had gone out before I had chance to connect it!

Just curious, how much do replacement covers cost?
