right sorry for the incredibly late reply. The turbo was replaced in the end under warranty. I wasn't told the problem with the old unit.

I've covered over 1k miles now and all is well!

One quick question tho, when fiat fitted the new turbo, would they have re-flashed my ecu? aka reset my fuel map.

Was umnder my car yesterday and took off the bottom gaurd thing, noticed oil coming from the turbo area, couldnt get in to have a good look but defo oil coming from it......uh oh.......

does your car have a flat spot around 2k under partial throttle? and whistle when cold?

No, It did have but that went away when i got my map.(y)
Whislte? well that depends what you determine a "whistle" mine makes a noise yes but i think its the normal noise, sounds like a police siren. no louder when its cold.

Well, they replaced the turbo pipe as a consequence of the engine mount failing but i doubt they would mention if they saw something else off their own back. I mean if i dont mention it why would they? its only going to cost them.

Mines going back for the steering so i will mention it then i guess.(y)

3rd yr warranty...

do0es that mean you think its a gonner?

Nah stop stressin man lol! I just meant ur right, why would they point out anythin else they saw if they have to cover the cost as the 3rd yr warranty is dealer only rather than being able to recover the cost from Fiat.

Unless they can recover the cost from Fiat in the 3rd year Warranty of course... then I would have thought they would have pounced on it!

All turbos will go sooner or later anyhow, trick is to work out when to go for an overhaul or replacement before it fails totally and risk taking the engine out too with flying turbo vanes!

Remote possibility but it has happened on most if not all makes.

The only proper way to check it out is to remove it and check clearance tollerances and bearing surfaces, once you do that you may as well just take it for re-furb anyway or have another fitted IMO.

Right, the turbo has been replaced, as they thought it may be why the fuel consumption was high. It was leaking oil around the seals. The car is definately quicker and more responsive and also it now pulls better from lower RPM. All i need sorting out now is the cracked radiator hose pipe, back to the accident repairer for the 5th time :bang:

Re: oily deposit - OT

OT..... @Beany - Are you waiting for a new electric power steering assembly ?

I'd be interested as to how long it takes to appear. I have had one on order since December 3rd

They seem to be made of pure unobtanium !

Perhaps my dealer is telling porkies, but I don't think so, he seems to be genuine.
