Dump valve?

Why have I never seen/heard a dump valve on any T-Jet Grandes?

re-circ valve matey. works in exactly the same way as a dump valve only the compressed air it allows to 'escape' is put back into the induction via the tubing along the top of the engine cover.

you can remove the 90 degree rubber tubing at the end of this and it will allow the exact noise an atmospheric valve makes and have no ill effects on the running of the t-jet.

i did it for like the first week i had my t-jet. but im putting it back to standard now, as id rather it be more sleeperish.

Re: Dump valve?

nope.

explain to me how it would?

tbh, the air being re-circulate dinto the induction would in theory help the turbo spool up quicker. but i havnt noticed the difference in day to day driving.

Re: Dump valve?

because the wasted air is bein reused forced back into the air intake which is putting more air into the intake system if you take it off theres less air going into it
i tried it today it does have a very load wussshhhhh!!!! noise though and turned a lot of heads and people looked very puzzled even the boy racers cause they didnt know the t-jet is a turbo lol

Re: Dump valve?

Put a decent induction kit on and you'll hear everything as if it had a dump valve. That way you don't disturb the turbo's operation .

Well the reason it activates in the the firstplace is that the air has nowhere to go once the throttle butterfly is closed so how would putting more air into the induction system help?

The advantage in normal set ups is really only to keep things quiet and save you wasting filtered air

so taking it off int gonna do it any harm or effect performance then?

Re: Dump valve?

Well it shouldn't do any harm providing you block the redundant intake hole off and it won't effect the performance but it won't make it any faster either, you'll just frighten grannies and annoy people
Thanks Moss1984 thanked for this post

Re: Dump valve?

Look on youtube there are loads of videos of Tjet dump valves. You could also buy a GSR and then you will hear it dumping through that like mine does

i was goign to explain it all to you alst nite matey. i work for fiat. had my t-jet on the examiner. and tbh i could not see any difference in air mass measured, air temp, fuel pressure, fuel amount etc. it all ran exactly the same.

and as has been said with the GSR you can here it anyway. and it sounds exactly the same. jsut a quick trick to make a dump sound if anyone wants it.

mines back to standard now anyway, more sleeperish.

Re: Dump valve?

Or you could get a GSR for the performance increase and get one of those mad trumpet type dump valves if you want noise and end up with a car that is quicker thanks to the GSR and sounds even quicker thanks to the very loud Tisssssch.

A recirc will never sound anywhere near as loud as an atmospheric one
this is my Cinq Turbo with a turbosmart atmospheric dump valve (meant origionally for a Scooby) only running 0.8bar in this clip as it was damp Usually 1.2 overboost) but it can be heard miles away long after the exhaust
