So with this u can adjust it to get more boost out of your turbo???

Yes, but without a remap you may have problems.

If you're lucky the ECU will notice the boost above it's mapped limit and throw itself into 'limp-home' mode.

If you're unlucky you might start melting pistons.
 
Right ok then so best thing really if i were to get 1 would be. take it to GSR wen i have remap and induction and have them fit it for me and they could tweek the map there to suit. Will it make much of a difference fitting this adjustable wastegate?
 
I'd speak to the fella at GSR first. He's made good power increases from remapping alone, and if I'm certain he utilises the ECU's boost controller to increase boost electronically.

BTW, if anyone's thinking of disconnecting the re-circ piping they must blank-off the side which re-enters the Turbo inlet, otherwise various bits of dirt/flies/etc will impact the compressor blades or pass through into the engine causing damage either way. I'd recommend some sort of filter over the recirc valve outlet too.
 
But it's not the waste gate you're hearing- it's the pressurized air momentarily 'backing-up' and getting chopped up as it passes back through the compressor, as J4cko has already said-;)



If it was on a tJet then maybe but on my Turbo Cinq it definatly is not pressure backing into the turbo as that makes a very different chattering noise and my T15 would have disintegrated by now and is not a light flutter that is the definatly the wastgate.

But there again it is a different animal 1.2 bar of boost, a turbosmart dump valve and a Greddy EBC
 
GSR and map and your as far as you can go on the standard turbo.

Peter does good work on FIAT engines and his bits are well proven and i will not knock what he can do to leave you with a reliable car at the end of it and to enhance what you have it would be a very good start.

But once you have done a remap and induction kit it is modified so no longer a standard Turbo so is that the end of the road is that as quick as you can get a Turbo GP?

You can do what the hell you want to a modify a standard car the only limit is your imagination and the depth of your pocket :devil:
 
No because the turbo cannot physically give any more. Yes it feels alot quicker now. Pulls alot better through all the gears and suprised alot of people.

Say it all you want. Fiat have done it intentionally to stop it being quicker than an abarth. Im not saying its as quick as you can get a turbo GP you just need to change to the abarth turbo to get more power out of it.

All the Tuner's I've spoke to, or read articles by, state wastegate chatter is a myth. I was going to quote Wiki, but it says wastegate chatter does and doesn't exist. :cry:

My Cossie-spec T3 Turbo runs over 1bar boost, and even with a dump valve I could get a small amount of 'chatter' when lifting off just before peak boost. I decided I preferred it, so I binned the dump valve and pipework. :devil:

It's still going strong 2 Years later.
 
Higher boost, balanced and beefed up cank, flowed Head, bigger injectors, free flow exhaust, oil cooler and a piggy back ECU will blow any standard FIAT car into the ditch The problem with GP's is there are new and faster versions are available as standard so you can get more by buying a new car.

But if you look at the depreciation you will have suffered on your TJets thanks to the current market and look at the the differential compared to buying a new Abarth if you are power hungry it is making more and more sense to tune up what you have if you intend keeping the car

Depends on how operate your wastgate and electronic dump valve;) closed throttle = wastgate and dump valve operates in 0.08 seconds so never any back pressure in turbo above normal boost pressure

= tissssshhh & flutter

Can this be done by only taking the small pipe out (with the 90 degree bend) where the air will come out rather than take the engine cover off as well?

Just curious because im going to do it for now.

And what sort of filter or cover would do for it? Got some tape for where the air would be going back in.

Doesn't sound anything like an atmospheric BOV if that's what you're hoping, but yeah, stick some tape over the bypassed and thats fine.

It sounds annoying after the dump though as the *pop* of the valve is just as loud as the release..

will do until you get a proper BOV :devil:
