I've had an annoying knocking noise since day 1 of ownership but never really bothered to find the problem, however I have looked today and the noise is caused by the driver side rear bench seat not locking in to place (top half).

The lock just doesn't engage when you push the chair in to it, as it should do. The passenger side is working OK... Is this a known issue, can I fix it or do I need to go to a dealer? :bang:

Aah this is similar to my own car.
having just done a 1700 mile trip with my GPS I soon spotted the same problem with my car . It did finally lock but it did take a huge slam to do so.

If it won't lock it is a safety related issue and when MOT time comes it will fail for it, so it does need fixing.

I wonder if the any more like it - I await the replies........

The wife's was exactly the same, same side as well. Westover Fiat looked at it and said it needed a new latch. Still waiting nearly six months later to hear back from them:rolleyes: It fixed itself after a while though. As mentioned try slamming it really hard.

This sometimes happens with my seats, just give it a big slam and it should click in.(y)

I've given it many hard slams, maybe not so hard enough. Will try a bit later and report back! For a while, I thought I had a faultless Fiat :nutter:

Check the hinge bit at the bottom of the top half - it may have popped out. If its not in the top part does not line up - so won't click in.

Every time I fold the back down the bottom hinge pops out and it needs to be forced back in (cos its sprung loaded).

As you guys suggested a good old slam locked the bench in place, i'll remember to be not so gentle next time!
Thanks!
