Hey guys,

Just a couple of things about the 1.9 engine really....

How loud is the turbo whine on yours, because I can hear mine very clearly. sounds like an emergency services vehicle siren approaching from afar sometimes lol heard a whislte from my peugeot, and similar from vw engine, but not something as noticeable as this definate whine.

Also noticed the engine sounding a bit chattery i think the best way to describe it. Didnt notice it when i got the car first, i must admit.

The car is also suffering from the hesitation too, which is fine now i've gotten used to it.

any thoughts very welcome.

I think on balance I would have it checked by a dealer, turbo failure is not unknown though also not common, is it re-mapped or does it have a tuning box? Also the EGR has been known to cause issues. I'm sure you will get a few replies.... (y)
 
thanks mate,

no tuning box or remap, as the car feels quicker than the pd100 my sis has, but not THAT much quicker.

just wondered wether the turbos on the Gp are renowned 'whiners' lol
first day the gf was in it, she seriously thought there was a siren coming from afar lol.

Mine has no whine at all, I get an occasional short Psssh when I lift off and gearchange, but TBH I dont hear the turbo AT ALL with the windows closed.

Any oily deposits from the exhaust pipe or on the turbo itself? Does the car smoke at all or much?
 
no smoke at all that i've noticed mate, and the exhaust is very clean indeed, i must say. guess i'll just have to take the plunge and go see fiat:confused:
 
another thing, what temp does your gauge go to on normal driving. mine goes to half way up and stays around there. the peugeot on the other hand was always about a third of the way up.
 
mind is definately being put at ease now, so thanks guys.

if i'm passing the dealers, i'll pop in and check to see if one of the tech guys can have a listen etc
