Does the hill holder causes "friction" like sound when you apply the breaks?

Hello Everyone

I own a 2008 Grande Punto Turbo.

I started to notice a "friction" like sound whenever I applied the brakes at low speeds ( below 5 mph). I went to the agency and I was told that the hill holder system causes that noise.

Does anyone knows anything about this?.

Thanks for the help

By produced by the hill holder system I meant it's a normal noise and I should not worry ( said the agency guys)

Ohh and it's "brakes" not "breaks".

Hill holder only cuts-in when you're stopped on a slope, and even then it'll only be a slight creak as the brake pressure is released after a second or so.

Oh, and like T said- "agency"?

Hello.

Thanks for the answers.

Should I have said "dealer" instead of agency? sorry about that, english it's not my native language.

About my problem, it's only noticeable at low speeds, If I brake at moderate or high speeds I don't hear anything. Also I don't think my brakes are un responsive. It's basically a low "growl" kind of sound that I can hear when the car is almost at full stop.

Like I said, the mecanic at the dealer said to me that this noise it's common on all Puntos due to the hill holder system.

I have read several posts on squeaky noise brakes on the Punto so I'm wondering if this is part of that.

Hi and welcome to FF

Your dealer is right in one respect, it is normal i believe, i hear it on mine around 5mph or just over, i have also had mine in to the dealers and got them to check the brakes and they said everything was fine, they said it's because the brake pads are made from a hard compound, though i very much doubt it has anything to do with the hill holder, like D4nny8oy said, the hill holder only kicks when your on a hill and you press the brakes then release the handbrake.

You dont need to use the handbrake for the hill holder (the beauty of it) Hill holder operates in first gear on a 5% or greater upward slope when both the clutch and brake pedals are pressed or a 5% or greater downward slope when reverse gear the brake pedal and clutch pedal are depressed.

Yes mine does it occasionally :)confused:) at low speeds too. Never bothered taking it to dealers yet as it doesnt seem to do it all the time. Not a very nice sound though is it.
