thanks, I have taken them up on it, but have got the garage who have it at the moment offering to try and get costs down, and as of this evening- the garage that sold it to me are going to get one of their big cheeses to talk to a fiat approved (2nd hand fiats) big cheese this week about it as well.

so its heading up the chain and at the moment I am pretty optimistic. I don't intend to get nasty with them as I have been very happy with their service for 8 years, and they got the car from the fiat approved scheme- ie the buck passes further back.

The problem is very well known to Fiat Italy. I have the same fault.

It is the passenger side driveshaft. You only experience the noise when you carry a passenger & have to take a sharp right- hand turning. It sounds like the suspension creaking but it's a noise from the driveshaft/gearbox.....

This is one of the many reasons that Fiat have discontinued the GPS 1.9.....[/QUOTE]

Maybe someone can enlighten us 1.9 owners on this one? First I've heard of it...

That's similar to the gearbox/diff problem I had, but I've got a 1.2 active and I thought this problem was kinda limited to that range. Never heard of it on a 1.9 though.

well, erm aside from the b.s

:slayer:(y):slayer:

all sorted for me and my punto. all costs being covered.

cheers guys and thanks for all your input- if I get any interesting blurb on the report when I get it back I will let you know.

-I am sure the hold music for customer services was chosen very carefully to try and stop you being grumpy with them... I even looked it up, how sad is that? ('come by me' harry connick jr)

got it back today, they dropped it home for me when I was out, and the paperwork is a bit thin on the ground so I am going to have to nag for it all, including the proof of the record breaking over revs!!

got so used to not having it that I almost don't want it... need to bond again.
