Hi

Maybe I'm just being a little dense, but maybe someone can answer this question to me. GP headlight bulbs are H4 and have dual-filament bulbs. This means that if I uprated to aftermarket HID's (for show use as I know they are illegal:p) how would the HID's work when you 'flash' your main beams to let someone know you are there. I have a mate with factory fit HID's on his BMW 120d and they take a good 3-4 seconds to come on and another 10-15 seconds to warm up fully.

But what if you are using the main beam flash in the daytime? - I know not a regular occurrence as I usually use the horn and flick the birdie...but if it's an old fart that the horn would probably cause a heart attack!!!

Have never seen one of those before, so it's a xenon dip and a halogen main beam.

Almost worrying that it's only £25 though including ballasts!! - Makes me think the ballasts are made out of balsa wood!!!

yeah it is, i live in bedford, work in hitchin and spend most nights in stevenage/letchworth :)

Cool cool. My g/f lives the other end of the A505 at the Royston end so Letchworth is easy. Wanna fit a HID kit, but jst wanna see an install before having a go myself.

Where abouts have you put the ballasts and how have you run the bulb wires through the rubber bung that goes over the back of the light unit?

Also mate, is there any warmup delay when u flash ur main beams in the daytime?

Soz for all the questions.

Ok matt

I was actually asking for a pic in general of how he had run wires/fitted his ballasts.

Yes plenty of need. Its not rocket science how to fit HID's. You have a limited length of wire so secure the ballasts to where ever you can. Im not getting an arseache but sometimes people just need to use there head and think on somethings. Mikey of BB could fit them with one arm tied behind him back.

I just use the one which moves the bulb between high and dip beam...it works fine for flash aswell...never had any trouble! - Also, when they're fitted make sure you dip your lights to 3 - that lowers the beams low enough to not dazzle people and not get hassled by the fuzz :)

Look like this:
