I would go for a Goodyear that's appropriate. The Toyo T1-R/T1-S tyres are both poor in the wet. I've got Goodyears all round on my Bravo and they are great.....

Sorry for being stupid...

But when I search on the internet for repalcement Bridgestone Ponzeas(spelling?) I can't find any..

Is the code number for Ponzeas "BRIDGESTONE RE050 (HIGH PERFORMANCE)"

:confused::confused:

I seem to have a slow puncture in my front left one :(

Perhaps am not understanding...

But it says the:

Bridgestone RE050
Tyre Size 205/45V17

Suitable for super sports and high performance models

This is a run flat tyre
The perfect tyre for the sporty, demanding driver.
Excellent in both wet and dry conditions.
Good comfort level.
Low noise.

Runflat!?

ive just had 2 new 205/45/r17 T1-R's fitted to my car and i think the grip is better than the bridgestones it had on before, they only cost me £69 each, dont think you can get a tyre as good as these for that money!

Found out that someone had slashed one of my front tyrel last week so had to get a replacement quick. The good thing was the fact that the two front Potenzas needed replacing any way.
As I was in a hurry I did not have the time to shop around or wait until the local tyre shops could find the tyres I wanted so I just had to take what they had in stock.
The choice was limited to 2. A cheapo Khumo or a Pirrelli Assimetrco. I chose the Pirrellis. Cost fitted for two was a whopping £265 ! ! !
Now once I had got over the shock I found out that these are very good tyres. Suberb grip in the wet and the dry. They also improve the turn in on tight bends to a higher level than the previous Bridgestones. They are about as noisey as them too. They are not a pretty tyre either but if you can afford them I can recommend that you give them a go.
I will buy two more for the rear when needed ( if I can afford them).

I had Bridgestone potenza's on my corsa sri the handling was supreme. I have got them on my GPS but im still having with drawall symptoms from my corsa. I love my gps just wish the handling was a bit sharper, but hey can't have everything:rolleyes:

Vredestein ultrac sport are excellent tyres and last for ages although can be a little pricey.

What price tyres?

Depends if you want to postpone the eventual half-a-day-out with your funeral director – I understand a burial is now priced around £2K+ or a cremation marginally cheaper.

Will the guy sporting Falken Ziex ZE512s please overtake or back-off 12.3m (… that’s 3 GP lengths).

"Three *205/55 R16 Vs fall short of standards we think acceptable: the Marangoni Vanto; the Nankang Ultra Sport NS-2; and, worst, the Falken Ziex ZE512 which needs 12.3m more to stop than the **best in this size."Source: Tread carefully WHICH? Mar2007 (pp70-73)

* medium cars e.g. Ford Focus, Honda Civic, VW Golf
** Michelin Primacy HP, Pirelli P7, Bridgestone Turanzo ER300, Conti Premium Contact2

Got two Bridgestone Pots fitted.

non-run flats lol

£250 fitted :|

Need tracking doing tho! (n)

Hi.

Did any of you guys thought that maybe each model in the GP range has it's (well...limited in performance) suspension fine tuned taking into consideration the kind of tire the model is supposed to have?

I mean, I wouldn't bet that my Active 1.4 8v has *the same* suspesnsion settings as a Sport M-Jet with 130PS! If they do...hey...that's it.

But listen to this: maybe the suspension is setup such that in a critical situation when the shock absorbers and/or springs are approaching their designated limits, the tire takes over to a certain extent. I can imagine a situation where with the standard (narrow and ugly) tires, the back will step up and slide (effectively protecting the car from a certain roll-over situation), and if in the same situation we would be using high grip, wide tires, the car would in fact roll-over because the tire would use up all its elasticity (becoming hard as a rock) but it would not loose lateral grip yet. So the car suddenly would have a fulcrum on the outside rear tire and it tilts over!

ESP? EPS systems won't save you. They're setup with ~300 different parameters and they're set for the standard tire sizes. (Whichever size is standard for you.) In the above situation the ESP will monitor the wheels accelerations, steering wheel angle, etc. It will see that, trajectory-wise, the car will indeed follow the route imposed by the steering angle! It will not know that the tires are not standard, that they have become hard as a rock and that a tilt is imminent.

So, putting different tires that what's specified in the car's manual is risky bussiness.

What do you think?

Through the works garage today, 2 Vredestein 's for my Multijet Sporting, £118 inc VAT, give the guys a tenner to fit them, jobs a good un.
Not sure exactly which tyre in the Vredestein range but the guy quoted for 205/45/17's
Seem to get a decent write up for these tyres, including Auto Express awards.

read through this thread and some good points were made, however it didnt answer my question.

Are the potenzas which come on the sporting as standard runflat tyres or not, as bridgestone seem to do a runflat and non runflat tyre, its the RE050 A tyres which i have and im looking to change to a 205/40 toyo t1r. reason im asking is that i have been advised to tell my insurance if im changing from runflat to non runflat as the car isnt "FACTORY SPEC".

can anyone confirm this
