Woohoo 1st post, shame its a fault! Anyway picked up my 1.9 mj GP on friday, have noticed a stuttering on gentle acceleration around 2000-2500 revs sounds like the turbo is pulsing on and off, only occurs on normal driving in 2nd and 3rd gears, under full load and hard acceleration the problem isnt there, car has only covered 13k, anyone any ideas??

It's booked in on monday at Fiat to be looked at, thankfully still under 2 year warranty if it is the turbo!
 
sounds like the EGR valve, if your getting sudden loses of power! Have a look though some threads related to egr valve problems... but yes there is a dodgy batch of turbo! If you have one you'll see oil deposits around the manifold and smoke coming from up behind the back of the engine block on long runs.... also check for a sutty black turbo
 
Not noticed any smoke from around the engine bay, not even from the exhaust on start up or after long runs,ill get the EGR valve checked when i go in, the turbo sounds fine and pulls well on heavy acceleration so im edging towards it being the EGR.

UPDATE, finally got the car checked out at my local fiat dealers this morning, diagnostics showed them a fault reading with the airflow meter, they fitted a new one along with airbox and retightned all hoses etc and now pulls fine with no stuttering hesitation, they have noticed a strange sound from around both footwells, they said possibly gearbox related( crown wheel) or something like that, so booked in for that in a few weeks or so, apparantly there was a bad batch of mj 1.9 from caledonia motors up north who went bust and this may well be one of them! thanks god for a warranty lol!

I bought my 1.9 MJ from Preston Caledonia just before they went bust :cry:. Mine stutters very occasionally when I put my foot down and then let it off again, is that normal when its pumping loads of fuel in and then you just stop or should it still be smooth?

Mine was only stuttering on acceleration, you could hear the turbo whistling on and off several times a second even when u didnt lift causing a jerking sensation, id get it checked out if i was you, really does sound like a bad batch!!my fuel economy has gone up already since this mornings fix aswel!
