1.9 sporting, 33,000 miles

has started crunching from 1st -> 2nd unless I let the revs down to tick over, problem is more common when the car is cold but still happend during quick changes when its warm, by quick changes i dont mean racing I mean pulling out of roundabouts and such

is this a common problem? is it the clutch needs adjusting or is the box ****ed?

also is the box oil part of the 36,000 mile service as it will be going in soon

many many thanks

Gearbox oil is not mentioned in 36k service schedule but it should be checked at every service along with all fluids. Crunching could be worn syncro on 1st/2nd or maybe clutch pedal not going all the way down. Clutch is hydraulic on all Grande's i think, non adjustable. Possibly low oil due to leak, mine is on the selector shaft seal, being done next week.

marty, your sig should be: If it aint broke, it aint a FIAT[/quote

Family are always takin the p**s out of me coz i take stuff apart just to see how it works. Comes with being home all day. That's why i got a Fiat, to keep me occupied :D

Back on thread. Ive been told by the tech who looked at my leak they are getting a few with leaky gearboxes in now. Mainly early cars so might be worth a heads up to all owners of cars nearing the end of the 2 year warranty period.

my car is an 06 plate so its an early one too

The gearbox in my active will fail, I can just tell. And as soon as it does, I will tell the dealer to fix it. Then immediately trade it in, so that if they do a bodge job no-one will buy it after test drive.
